Gbadebo Siblings Model Careers After Nigeria Stars, Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses
By Godwi Aikigbe
Ayomide and Pelumi Gbadebo see Super Eagles stars, Victor Moses and Ahmed Musa respectively as their role models, as they hope to take their career to enviable heights.
Both brothers stand out among players of the academy with their tick dreadlocks that reminds one of ex football stars, Jules Bokande, Christian Kerembu, Cyril Makanaky, Ruud Gullit, Edgar Davids and late Samuel Okparaji.
Pelumi, 10, boasting a good height, says he just loves to be a striker like CAhmed Musa, who scored two brilliant goals for Nigeria against Iceland at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
“I like playing as a striker because I want to score plenty goals for Nigeria in future like Ahmed Musa. I have joined SRIL Football Academy because I like how they train the players and I believe I can learn the ropes here and become a big player in no distant time,” he said.
Ayomide, 13, and more circumspect with words, Victor Moses is his role model and hopes he would someday play at the big stage like the Chelsea star who was part of Nigeria squad to 2018 World Cup in Russia.
He said: “I just like playing as a striker because I enjoy putting the ball behind the net. Again, strikers are the most popular players because the game is all about goal-scoring. That is why Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the most popular in the world. I want to be as popular, but I like Victor Moses and want to play like him.”
The brothers are the newest set of players to register with our young but widely acclaimed football academy. They have been major actors at the U15 team of players with great passion for the game.
