Heavy rain in June makes for cheap electric power as well as an impressive display of the force of nature at the waterfall.

There's no guarantee of snow at the cabin but in the last 20 years there has always been the need to clear snow off the roof at least once during the winter season❄️

Can't live without your daily shower? Me neither!
We have a ingenious shower system in the kitchen.
Unscrew the kitchen faucet nozzle and attach the showerhead that you find under the sink.
Lift the bench top and secure it with the the black bolt. Note that you must insert with the short arm from below.
Attach the shower curtain. Make sure it hangs evenly on all 3 sides, else it may fall down.
Start the fan.
Climb in, use chair if necessary. Have someone help start and stop the water or do it yourself.
After, you will need to hang the curtain to dry. Wipe clean and soak up excess water.

Artesian water is being pumped from 100m below ground and heated to give you a nice warm shower after hiking or just for doing dishes.
You may need to turn on the pump and heater upon arrival and off when leaving.
Make sure you leave the black cord in the outlet at all times as it is for the frost prevention heater

When restoring the crofter cottage, we found old magasines and newspapers from the 1930s used as insulation in the walls and floors.
We also framed part of the old wall paper from the living room before painting. Just to keep history alive.

Hallbjønnsekken is a fantastic winter destination, and lies in beautiful, snow-sure high mountain terrain, 800 meters above sea level only 35 min drive from the cottage.

In addition to downhill skiing you find 60 km of groomed cross-country trails. Varied trails provide great hiking opportunities, both for cozy family hikes and quick training hikes.

You can also follow the trail machine and get an overview of recently completed trails at https://loyper.net/

You know you are at the cottage when you realise that you forgot to put away all Yule decorations last year 🎄
The unwritten rule is to leave them out until next holiday season 🎁
