The Lockheed C-5M Super Galaxy is the largest aircraft in the US Air Force's fleet, measuring 247 feet long with a 222-foot wingspan. It can carry over 280,000 pounds of cargo, including two M1 Abrams tanks or a Chinook helicopter, and can load and unload from both the front and rear simultaneously. First flown in 1968, it's been upgraded into the modern C-5M and is expected to stay in service until 2040 or beyond. 🇺🇸 It's the largest US military aircraft ever built, though the Russian Antonov An-124 holds the title of largest military transport aircraft in the world.
