Hey Rimu Scout Park Whānau! 🌟
We’ve got some exciting updates to share about the amazing work our volunteer “fairies” have been doing behind the scenes in 2024! 🎉✨
Thanks to our dedicated volunteers and groups like the Rovers, we’ve made some awesome improvements and have even more plans in the pipeline. So check out what we’ve been up to:
🌿 New Signage: Embracing bi-culture, diversity, and inclusion with updated informational signs.
🛡️ Safety First: Completed a site safety audit with several improvements to keep everyone safe.
🔒 Security Boost: Improved CCTV, new locks, and AI-driven security features to keep the park more secure. We are also working closely with the community to monitor/ respond 🚓
🏡 Welcome West Melton Scouts: Our new long-term tenants, making the park their home base!
🌳 Fire-Damaged Hedge Cleanup: Cleared and fenced the area, ready for future replanting.
🚧 Expanded Site Perimeter Fencing: Taller and longer boundaries to keep our youth safe and on-site (no escapees! 😂).
Playground Upgrade: Added more bark chips for a safer play area.
🌱 Northern Pond Revamp: Massive earthworks and native plantings around the pond.
🛠️ Historical Items: Refurbishing or disposing of old/damaged tents and camp equipment.
📜 Long-Term Plan: Drafted a plan including a Scouting Museum expansion and a Memorial Wall of Service, kitchen and heating improvements.
🔧 Building Hardware: Replaced locks, k***s, and other damaged items.
🔥 New Seating: Added outdoor seating and soon-to-be fire pit benches (x4)for those adults in comfort need .
🔒 Paddock Lock and Cable: Installed to reduce field wear and tear and enhance youth safety.
New Signage: Commissioned under sponsorship, more updates coming soon!
W**d / Pest Control: Removal and control of invasive species (i.e. gorse bush)
Now we couldn’t do it without your support! As we do things on tight budgets/FOC or based on successful grant applications.
Any sponsorships and/or donations in either goods/services is appreciated and your logo may endup on the side of a shipping container and/or on our planned Park Sponsors Board, situated with our main signage, next to s stat highway, (Win/win).
