Kia ora koutou. Here’s the latest on for Hawke’s Bay: An orange heavy rain warning has been issued.

🌧️ ⚠️ Heavy Rain Warning - Orange 🌧️ ⚠️
MetService New Zealand have issued a the rainfall warning for Hawke’s Bay, level ORANGE.🔶
For all of Hawkes Bay, especially about the ranges.
Period: 13hrs from 1pm Tue, 14 Feb - 2am Wed, 15 Feb
Forecast: Expect 40 to 70 mm, especially about the ranges. Peak rates of 10 to 15 mm/h.

Rives are still extremely high and conditions are hazardous. People in WAIOHIKI, OMAHU, RESIDENTS ARE STILL BEING ASKED TO EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY.

⚠️ WHAT TO DO: STAY SAFE, STAY INFORMED, AND STAY OUT OF FLOODWATERS. ⚠️

HEAVY RAIN MAY CAUSE MORE STREAMS AND RIVERS TO RISE RAPIDLY. SURFACE FLOODING AND SLIPS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE AND DRIVING CONDITIONS MAY BE HAZARDOUS.

➡️ Be prepared for power outages to possibly remain for a couple of days. Have a grab bag in case you need to evacuate. Make sure you have some cash at home or food and water to last three days, and a battery powered radio to stay informed.
➡️ Stay safe by staying out of harm’s way. Stay off the roads if you can. Keep away from beaches and coastal areas.
➡️ Check on your neighbours, vulnerable family members and anyone who might need your help.
➡️ Put safety first. Don’t take any chances. Act quickly if you see rising water. In an emergency, call 111.
➡️ Never try to walk, swim or drive through flood water.
➡️ Farmers and lifestyle block owners need to consider how and where you will relocate stock in a flood situation. Move stock and equipment out of low-lying areas.

Due to the cyclone, flooding, road closures, no power and danger of the current situation any bookings for now cannot be serviced.

Some great feedback from our last guests - Pohutukawa Villa was a great place for us to stay - nice and close to the beach, extremely tidy and had a very friendly feel to it. Great to have a dishwasher, and there was all the kitchen stuff you need. Very family friendly. We stayed in the winter, but we could just picture it being the perfect place to stay in the summer with lots of outdoor space and tables and chairs - it would be magic. We'd recommend it for anyone staying in the Bay. Thanks!
