A different perspective of The Rees Hotel, Queenstown.

Stone, timber and alpine light frame the entrance to our lakeside hotel, with Lake Wakatipu and the Southern Alps providing the backdrop.

A beautiful perspective captured by .studio.global during his stay with us.

We're proud to support the launch of the 2026 Queenstown Writers Festival.

Join two of New Zealand's leading journalists, Barry Soper and Naomi Arnold, for an afternoon of fascinating conversations, followed by drinks and the first look at what's in store for this year's festival.

It's set to be a fantastic event celebrating great storytelling, and we're delighted to be part of making it happen.

Congratulations to the Queenstown Writers Festival team. We look forward to seeing you there! 📚

Building a stronger community, one conversation at a time.

For more than a decade, The Rees Hotel has been proud to support the Catalyst Trust Queenstown, a dedicated team of local volunteers committed to creating a more informed, connected, and engaged Wakatipu community.

Since hosting our first Catalyst talk in July 2014, our meeting spaces have welcomed discussions on topics as diverse as international affairs, science, conservation, democracy, immigration, and the future of our region. Every event has encouraged people to ask questions, challenge ideas, and learn from experts.

What makes Catalyst truly special is that every member of the team gives their time voluntarily. Their commitment has helped create opportunities for thousands of people across the Wakatipu to connect through knowledge and meaningful conversation.

The partnership extends beyond these talks. Together, we've supported educational workshops for local students, helped grow the Lilliput Library community book swap network, and, since Covid, every koha raised at Catalyst events has been donated to local charities and community groups connected to each event's theme.

At The Rees, supporting our community means more than opening our doors. It means standing alongside organisations like Catalyst that make the Wakatipu a richer place to live.

To the incredible volunteer team behind Catalyst, thank you for your passion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to our community. We are honoured to have been part of your journey since 2014.

Mark your calendar! Join us for the next Catalyst Talk on Thursday, 3 September at The Rees Hotel. We look forward to another evening of thought-provoking discussion and community connection.

Strong women are the heartbeat of hospitality. 💐😍

They lead with confidence, care deeply, adapt quickly, lift others up and somehow keep everything moving, often all at once.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the incredible women of The Rees Hotel who show every day that women can lead businesses, raise families, build careers, chase goals and still make time to care for everyone around them.

To Micka, Fleur, Vandana, mum-to-be Anna, and all the incredible mums on our team, thank you for reminding us every day that there is no limit to what women can achieve.
