UPDATE ON JESSE 💔

Hi everyone, just a bit of an update since our last one.

Jesse is still on strong pain relief, and things are really tough right now. His pain levels don’t drop below a 6, and it’s heartbreaking to watch. He’s been trying so hard to attend work experience, but it’s just becoming too much physically. He even had to leave early one day because the pain was unbearable. It’s so frustrating, because all he wants is to be there and do what other young people his age are doing.

It’s honestly so wrong that my 17-year-old son has to take morphine before he eats, and then again after, just to manage the pain.

We are continuing to look into more funding options and pushing forward with fundraising wherever we can. We still have raffles and auctions running, so please keep an eye out for those. And if I’ve missed thanking anyone who has donated or supported us — I am truly sorry. There is so much going on in my head right now. Please feel free to reach out or DM me so I can personally thank you. Your support means everything to us.

On a brighter note — we have officially booked our flights to Canberra to see Dr Gert Frahm Jensen. This is a big step forward for us. We’ll share more updates as we get closer and once we’ve had the appointment, which is in about two months.

But I just want to say this… it shouldn’t be this hard.
It’s so wrong that Health New Zealand doesn’t support people with rare conditions like Jesse’s. No family should have to travel overseas for care when we have a public health system. Rare doesn’t mean less important — it just means not many people have it.
