NUEVA VIZCAYA's KUKUBO FARM: Part Seven of Ten Parts

Ten-hour trip tests one's stamina
Yet when you arrive, its all worth it
Me, with surroundings, an instant hit
Kindling memories, bygone era
Of childhood days, fauna and flora
From the urgent Singapore city
To carefree, utmost simplicity
Sleep and wake up anytime you like
Don't mind your program, heavy of light
And doing everything on a wimp
Relying on one's basic instincts
Planting, weeding, living in a farm
These thinngs you do, they do you no harm
If tastes can't agree with served chicken
Welcome! Just take over the kitchen
You can whip up your own chicken chop
Or harvest your fav"rite soup sop

Meals at this farm are seldom lonely
Farmers, entire crew, so friendly
There's Dexter, Allen and Joelly
And son-in-law Pot Pot and Jeffrey
Neljean Grace and her fiancee, Johnny.

Twenty-Four, seven, never a pause
Patiently leading by example
All equals, no fixed place at the table
Gelling one and all, a complete team
Fully aware of farm's long term theme
Giving hope and stake at farm's future
All have to prove worth during tenure
Staff, family, relatives and friends
All given the chance, time to show hand

Farm life is fun, farmers' lives are not
Rise early, rain or shine, cold or hot
Contending the forces of nature
As you grow, you reduce "exposure"
Sometimes you win, sometimes nature wins
Response shows how far and where you"ve been
Whoever wins, life will continue
In short stay, these are my humble views
Something else, i became aware of
Farmers are gutsy and strong, not soft
They have infinite inner patience
In born or etched early in conscience
Be it tilling, planting or tending
One outcome reigns supreme; harvesting
Kahit ano (whatsoever) in their daily grind
Inch forward, leave everything behind
They do it not because it's easy
But because each knows there're no freebies
As a mark of respect for farmers
You can do this e'en as beginners
I do not in excesses indulge
This has nothing to do with the bulge
I eat what I need, not what i want
Food does not come from a magic wand
What I eat and drink, I have a plan
I eat what I should, not what I can
I finish my food, e'en the last grain
Rememb'ring the farmers' toil and pain
I eat to live and not live to eat
We can debate or just accept it
Now, let's to life on the farm, come back
Do other activities, relax
Hunting crabs or pick shells from the creek
What you catch may be all you will eat
Or videok into the night
Belting your favourites with full might
