DJ CHESTER CANLAS Profile
Growing up around his dad’s turntable and vinyl records, DJ Chester developed a passion for music at a very young age. By the time he was 10 years old, he fell in love with the beats and rhymes of a then emerging music genre called hip hop. It was also around this time that he got curious about the art of DJ-ing having watched DMC DJ Mixing Competitions on TV.
Chester pursued DJ-ing as a hobby as soon as he finished college. He spent his graduation money to buy his first pair of turntables and mixer. He learned DJing by himself after countless hours of practice, research and watching DJ videos. But determined to hone his skills, DJ Chester enrolled in Spin City DJ Academy where renowned DJ’s Jessie Suaco and Funk Avy became his mentors and friends. This connection proved to be a starting point of his career as a professional DJ as they booked him for gigs. He would later on be a regular DJ in bars and clubs around the Metro like Attica, Ascend, The Keg, Scarlet Wine Lounge and Amber Ultra Lounge.
While he usually plays Top 40 dance music in clubs, DJ Chester regularly releases his mixes to showcase his taste in other genres of music such as 80’s, 90’s, reggae, old school hip hop, soul and other artist-themed mixes.

Being a renowned model in the Philippines, Safel has been introduced and fixated around the world of the DJ scene. Being in the modeling industry, Safel has learned several similar traits towards DJing. A young new force to be reckoned with, Safel earned her DJ status early 2011, spinning records all over the Manila scene such as the newly opened IMPERIAL ICE BAR (Fort Strip, BGC) Scarlet, (Fort strip BGC), Amber ULTRA Lounge (Fort strip BGC), The Establishment (Fort strip BGC), Axis Bar (Burgos Circle, BGC), District Bar, QC), and recently graced Cebu soil on INVIERNO* last December 22, 2012 at VUDU (Crossroads, Banilad CC). Playing all sorts of House Music: from Vocal, Deep House and Beach, to Top 40's Dirty Dutch and Electro Dance Music, DJ Safel is the newest and a proud addition to DJ lineup in the Philippines.
