Australian Hotel Hungduan STAY. LEARN. EXPLORE. An exceptional hotel in an extraordinary part of the world. Our Purpose. Our Mission. Our Vision.

Our five-story hotel is nestled in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Listed Hungduan Rice Terraces. Founded in 2024 by Norma Gano, our hotel and restaurant is the realisation of a dream that began in Hungduan. As a teenager, Norma envisioned a way to honour her roots and share the beauty of her hometown with the world. After moving to Australia, she pursued a nursing career, built a home, and

raised six Aussie born children—all while holding onto her promise to return and give back to her community. After fifty years of dedication and love for her heritage, she fulfilled that promise with the opening of the hotel in 2024, built on land once owned by her late father, Teofilo Gano. Our purpose is to attract and welcome travellers to Ifugao, offering them a comfortable and authentic experience that highlights the region’s rich culture, history, and natural beauty. We strive to be a key destination for tourists, fostering a deeper appreciation of Ifugao while supporting sustainable tourism that benefits both visitors and the local community. "At AHH, we don’t just provide a place to stay—we create an unforgettable experience." Our mission is to provide comfortable accommodations while supporting local businesses in Ifugao. Through sustainable tourism, we aim to empower local entrepreneurs, create job opportunities, and contribute to the community’s economic growth. Our vision is to become a leading destination for sustainable tourism in Ifugao, where travellers can experience the region’s rich culture and natural beauty while contributing to the local economy. We aspire to create a thriving, interconnected community that thrives on responsible tourism, supports local businesses, and preserves the unique heritage of Ifugao for future generations.

A Call to Return to our Roots and Give Back

To All our fellow Hungduanons, wherever you may be

Many of us were born in Hungduan, while others are descendants of families who once called this beatiful place, home.

Over the years many of our people left Hungduan and travelled to different parts of the Philippines and overseas in search of better oppportunities and a greener pasture.

Through hardwork, courage and determination, many have become successful in business, professions and different walks of life. We can be proud of what our people have achieved.

But wherever life has taken us, our roots remain in Hungduan.

Our parents and grandparents left us more than a place of birth. They left us a heritage - our Rice terraces, mountains, rivers, cultures, traditions and most importantly, the values of our people.

As parents and elders, perhaps one of the greatest things we can do for the next generation is to encourage them to come home even on Punnuk Festivals to discover their roots, and make a difference.

Let our children and grandchildren see where their families came from. Let them walk through the Rice terraces, meet the people, learn our tradition, and understand the simple but meaningful life that shaped their ancestors.

Coming home does not necessarily mean giving money. Sometimes it means bringing ideas, knowledge, friendship ,opportunities and willingness to help. It may be supporting local farmers, creating employment, promoting tourism, helping young, protecting our environment or simply encouraging others to believe in what Hungduan can become.

As we grow older, we should ask ourselves:

What will we leave behind?

Let us not only leave memories of the past. Let us leave a place that is more comfortable, more prosperous than one we inherited.

If every Hungduanon who has found success elsewhere could contribute something - big or small - imagine what we could accomplish together.

Let us come home not only to remember where we came from, but to help shape where Hungduan is going.

Our roots gave us our beginning.
Let us give something back to our roots.
Let us make a difference for the generation that follows us.

With love and hope for our beloved Hungduan.
From a fellow Hungduan
