: The Philippines has been named the world’s top retirement destination for 2026 by Expatriate Group, earning an overall score of 78 out of 100 and surpassing several established retirement hubs. The recognition follows the country’s ranking as Asia’s best retirement destination in 2025.

The report cited the Philippines’ low cost of living, strong expat integration, and accessible Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) program as key strengths. Under the SRRV, eligible retirees can obtain long-term residency without annual visa renewals, making the country one of the most accessible retirement destinations in the index.

Affordability remains a major draw, with a retired couple able to live comfortably on about £750 to £1,000 per month. The widespread use of English, combined with established expatriate communities in Manila, Cebu, and other popular destinations, also helps ease the transition for foreign retirees.

While healthcare services vary between urban and rural areas, the report noted that major cities offer modern hospitals, internationally accredited facilities, and English-speaking medical professionals.

Overall, Expatriate Group said the Philippines offers one of the most attractive retirement packages for those seeking affordability, accessibility, and a welcoming community.
