We were truly privileged to host Bollywood internet singing sensation, naat artist, and accomplished International Lawyer, Saj Sabri, LLB Hons, LLM, CCNA, CELTA, during his recent visit in December to the esteemed Bangrilla Community Hospital in Mirpur (AJK). As the son of the late Haji Abdul Aziz Sabri (Glasgow, UK), a prominent life-long philanthropist who selflessly dedicated his resources to establishing the largest charity hospital in Azad Kashmir, “SABRI INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL AND WELFARE TRUST,” which opened its doors in 1998 at a personal investment surpassing £1 million, his son Advocate Saj Sabri also embodies a legacy of generosity and service.
SABRI INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL has since transitioned into SABRI BOYS HOSTEL, a highly acclaimed and popular residence amongst all the students in Mirpur, housing almost 200 students from all over Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir, including some overseas students.
During his short sojourn at Bangrilla Community Hospital, artist Saj Sabri (Advocate) expressed a genuine desire to observe firsthand the remarkable array of services that Bangrilla Hospital provides to its local population as well as to the wider community across Azad Kashmir. He took the opportunity to recognise and commend the unwavering dedication and commitment demonstrated by the hospital staff, acknowledging their essential role in enhancing healthcare access and quality for all members of the community.
Advocate Saj Sabri was particularly impressed by the hospital's renewed focus on addressing the specific needs of the female community, highlighting the importance of tailoring healthcare services to meet the unique challenges faced by our women. This attention to the often-overlooked requirements of female patients underscores the hospital's commitment to inclusivity and comprehensive care for every segment of the population. Much to Saj Sabri’s surprise, he was taken aback seeing firsthand that Bangrilla Hospital had already constructed an entire new floor aimed solely at aiding and treating the women of Azad Kashmir. This proactive stance by Bangrilla hospital owner and fellow philanthropist Mr Tahir Afsar (Derby, UK) not only addresses the immediate healthcare needs of women in Kashmir but will also foster a supportive environment where women will feel comfortable in seeking medical assistance. Saj Sabri commended Mr Tahir Afsar for his tireless compassion and commitment to creating a safe space for female patients, allowing them to voice their concerns and receive tailored healthcare.
Inspired by the tireless efforts of Mr. Tahir Afsar, Saj Sabri (Advocate) shared his enthusiasm for supporting initiatives that would further amplify the hospital's positive impact. His visit not only celebrated the enduring legacy of his father Abdul Sabri’s selfless philanthropic endeavours, but also highlighted the pressing need for sustained backing of healthcare initiatives within the region of Azad Kashmir.
Saj Sabri also expressed his intent to explore potential partnerships and initiatives that could further strengthen the hospital's capabilities. His vision includes advocating for additional resources such as more ambulances to serve the locality, and further funding to expand the kidney dialysis wing and in providing life-saving equipment for stroke and heart attack patients - the exact ailment which lead to his late father’s untimely demise - all of this in order to better serve the vital needs in Azad Kashmir.
In this spirit of collaboration, Mr. Tahir Afsar and artist Saj Sabri (Advocate) are united in their shared vision to promote a healthier future for the people of Azad Kashmir. Their partnership aims to bring about transformative changes, ensuring that quality healthcare remains readily accessible to all individuals in the community. Together, they endeavor to inspire hope and create lasting improvements in the lives of countless individuals, reinforcing the importance of philanthropic compassion and selfless community support through healthcare initiatives across the whole of Azad Kashmir.
