جہلم میں رہنے والوں نے
جہلم کے بارے بتلایا

جہلم میں دریا بہتا ہے
برسوں سے وہ یہ کہتا ہے
جو درد غموں کے سہتا ہے
وہ شخص سُکوں سے رہتا ہے

جہلم میں ریل گاڑی بھی
پُل پر سے جب گُزرتی ہے
غُربت کے مارے بچوں کی
صورت سی پھر نِکھرتی ہے

جہلم کے سب بازاروں میں
چوکو میں سب اِشاروں میں
سڑکوں کے سب کناروں میں
خوشیاں ہیں سب نظاروں میں

جہلم میں جو بھی آتا ہے
رہتاس تو وہ جاتا ہے
اور گُن وہاں کے گاتا ہے
پھر قِصّے ہمیں سُناتا ہے

جہلم میں منگلا دینہ بھی
جہلم میں مرنا جینا بھی
جہلم میں کھانا پینا بھی
جہلم میں گاما مِینا بھی

جہلم کی سر زمیں سے
کئی تجھ کو رنگ ملیں گے
سپنے حسیں آنکھوں کے
پلکوں کے سنگ ملیں گے

وہ پُرسکوں ہوائیں
وہ لذت کہاں ملے گی
جہلم سی سر زمیں کی
وہ جنت کہاں ملے گی

جہلم کو جا رہے ہو تو اتنا ہے کام کہنا
جہلم کے رہنے والوں کو میرا سلام کہنا
