HORIZONTAL BALER OPTIMIZES WASTE STREAMS IN A MODERN LOGISTICS CENTER IN VILNIUS
IKI is one of the largest grocery store chains in Lithuania and one of the most recognizable brands in the country, operating over 245 stores nationwide. Over the years, Orwak’s distributor UAB Strapas has installed more than 170 vertical balers in the stores and furthermore a high-capacity horizontal baler in the IKI Lietuva logistics center in Vilnius. The fully automated horizontal baler provides an effective, profitable and sustainable packaging waste management solution well adapted to the high degree of automation in a modern logistics center.

Large volumes of packaging material, mainly cardboard and plastic film, accumulate when groceries are repacked but the horizontal baler turns 200 tons of recyclables a year into mill-size bales for recycling.

Geiranger attracts 700 000+ visitors every year and Hotel Union Geiranger Resort & SPA is a large and frequented hotel. Big bulky bags of cleaning waste accumulate quickly during peak season.

STUDENTS FROM SWEDEN EXCITED ABOUT INTERNSHIP AT ORWAK JAPAN
Our Japanese team is pleased to welcome Ararad Sarkissian from Linnaeus University and Lana Milanovic from Jönköping University in Sweden to ORWAK Japan for their internship this fall.

During their time in Japan, they will have the opportunity to experience the Japanese market firsthand - visiting customers and logistics facilities, learning about waste management and compaction solutions, and exploring how sustainability initiatives can be successfully implemented and expanded across organizations.

Their internship will also provide an opportunity to compare approaches to sustainability, logistics, and working culture between Sweden and Japan, bringing fresh perspectives to both our local and global organization. Orwak Japan is very happy to have Ararad and Lana aboard and look forward to following their journey and the insights they will bring back from Japan. 🇸🇪🤝🇯🇵

M SUR, DEDICATED TO PROMOTING RECYCLING IN SANTIAGO, BENEFITS FROM POWER BALERS

M SUR, a key player in waste management and recovery for municipalities in the southern area of Greater Santiago, acquired Orwak’s POWER 3820 balers to make the recycling operations and material recovery more efficient. SULO CHILE SA arranged a training session for M SUR staff, covering equipment operation, safe usage, and best practices to maximize performance. Compacting and baling the collected recyclables promote sustainable resource management and create a positive impact in the communities.

Cardboard, PET and plastic wraps are the most common recyclables and the materials are now compacted with convincing results in the POWER balers.

POWERFUL COMPACTION WITH RESULTS – WHEREVER PACKAGING WASTE PILE UP
ORWAK POWER 3420 is a versatile high-capacity baler that takes on the waste compaction challenge and gets the job done in a wide range of environments. It is a great investment wherever volumes of cardboard packaging, paper and plastic wrapping accumulate!

Two recent success stories, the installation at convenience store Spar Markt Köck in Austria and paper sack compaction in a factory in Hungary, exemplify the successful combination of operational efficiency and sustainability.

When Interzero Austria installed the Power baler, it fundamentally changed Spar Markt Köck's cardboard handling. Staff can focus on customer service, while the baler ensures efficient, space-saving, and eco-friendly waste disposal. The customer: "The baler represents one of the company’s most important investments!"

The factory in Hungary receives raw materials in multi-layer kraft paper sacks, which are now compacted in a POWER 3420 delivered by ORWAK - Bálázógépek és hulladékprések. The sacs, previously occupying a lot of space, are now stored and transported as bales sized to fit standard Euro-pallets. The baler reduces the sacks to one-twentieth of the original!

BALER TRANSFORMS WASTE INTO OPPORTUNITIES AT NON-PROFIT RECYCLING CENTER
As part of his commitment to the environment and the community, Marco Villani – the Orwak distributor in Costa Rica – loaned a Compact 3120 baler for a three-month period to the local non-profit waste recycling organization Nosara Recicla.

The iconic Pacific Coast beach in the area attracts many tourists and Nosara Recicla contributes in a big way by recovering the recyclables. The baler came to great use and the results, 300 bales in this short period of time, speak for themselves:

+ 160 bales of cardboard
+ 49 bales of PET bottles
+ 39 bales of aluminum
+ 37 bales of HDPE
+ 18 bales of Tetra Pak

MOBILE BALERS PIONEER EVENT WASTE MANAGEMENT
Large-scale events generate substantial volumes of recyclable waste, which is traditionally transported offsite for processing. It results in additional material handling, unnecessary logistics, increased expenditures, and elevated carbon emissions.

Falcon Cleaning & Support Services in UK wanted a different approach and Orwak Easi UK Ltd was excited to help. Together, the parties developed a prototype mobile recycling solution designed especially for the event industry.

A trailer was equipped with
2 x Orwak Compact 3110 balers
1 x Orwak Compact 3115 baler
for compaction of cardboard, plastic, alu cans etc.

This project represents a fundamental shift in how this industry approaches waste at events. By empowering organizers to separate, compact, and prepare recyclable materials directly on site, it delivers both maximum environmental accountability and streamlined operational efficiency.
