ŠERUGA GUEST HOUSE YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW…
More than thirty years ago, we opened the doors of the Šeruga Guest house to our first guests. No, that’s not a mistake, Slavko’s parents welcomed the first guests – in the 1950s, Slovenian nuns from Serbia came to the valley on vacation. The Sisters of Mercy were extremely valued as nurses and caregivers in Belgrade hospitals. On vacation with the Šerugas, they would walk during the day, soak their feet in the stream, retreat to the shade of the bushy apple trees from the strong sun, read, and pray. It was mowing time and they happily grabbed their rakes, turned the mowed grass, and most of all, they took pictures, which was a completely new experience for them. Their sincere enthusiasm gave rise to the idea: why not offer the townspeople a new experience, a stay in nature, on a self-sufficient farm, where children can meet domestic animals, see how bread is baked, and pick wild berries for breakfast. Thus began the story of the Šeruga Guest house. From humble beginnings, a lot of enthusiasm, faith that we were leading the farm in the right direction, and sacrifices, a tourist farm was created, which we are proud of and where we attract guests from literally all over the world …
