‘The Jim and I’ series was created in celebration of our brand’s 75th anniversary where we invited those who have helped us shaped our company in the past, present and into the future to share their perspectives of our brand and the journey with us.

Meet BILL BENSLEY - a ‘Jack of all trades’ as he would describe himself and also a friend of the company.

Together, early this year we launched - a textile collection based on his paintings where a portion of the proceeds will be put towards conservation in Southeast Asia.

At Jim Thompson, we never shy away from colors, bold patterns and textures.

This fall, our journey into the Orient continues in part II of The Oriental Odyssey Collection.

“With Oriental Odyssey II, we wanted to capture Siam as a place that is always in motion,” explains Dao Vichada our Creative Director. “Every detail, from temple murals to everyday objects inspired the designs of this textile collection. It is a continuation of our Spring 2026 collection, where pattern, texture, and colors bring history and heritage into a contemporary, expressive present, and where designs remain true to Jim Thompson’s brand DNA.”

When was inaugurated as Thailand’s capital city in the late 18th century, trade between Siam and China expanded, and Chinese ceramics became increasingly popular at the Siamese court as symbols of wealth and luxury. Chinese artistic styles influenced palace interiors, with tables adorned in fine porcelain, particularly altar tables inspired by Chinese designs.

For our upcoming Autumn 2026 collection, our Creative Director Dao Vichada continued to be inspired by ancient paintings and local architectural forms of both royal and rural establishments especially murals, stucco and mosaics at one of Bangkok’s royal temple Wat Ratchaorasaram, rebuilt in the 1820s during the reign of Rama III.

So we wanted to take you on a little tour of this off the beaten track temple that played an important source of inspiration for our key designs.

Our Fall 2026 Oriental Odyssey II launches next week on our website and through our global distribution network.
