Fried Green Tomatoes
Juliete, Georgia

If you have ever seen and loved the movie like I have, please stop buy this awesome place. Do check the hours because they are a little odd to me. We did stop by the Whistle Stop Cafe where I fan girled so much I have no idea how the food was. From there you can even tour the buildings that were also in the movie, with the iconic shed that the hobo lived, and even the famous outdoor bbq. Don't forget to stop and talk to some locals and learn how the movie really saved the town.

TBT - 2021
Sach's Covered Bridge
Gettysburg, PA
Used by both the Union and The Confederates., it is rumored that at least 3 confederate soldiers were executed on that bridge.
It is reportedly very haunted, however I received no evidence of it while I was there this day or the night before.

First Monday Campground/RV Park Review
Fair Harbor RV - Perry, Georgia
Absolutely one of the best places to go if you're in the area. Close to a ton of places, such as the National Fairgrounds, Macon, Warner Robbins AFB, Juliette, etc. you can do most anything you want. It's been a few years since I've been there but not because I chose a different place, the cards simply haven't gotten me out there. It's a wonderful park and I miss the staff who I came to know rather well. They are all great people.

Sites range from shady/woody to all gravel sites. Dog park has 2 sections for large and small dogs. Children's playground, pavillion available and a large lake house available for rent. Clean restrooms/showers. Laundry room and community room also available. They do alot of activities at the park for holidays as well.

If you are ever in the area, stop here! If you don't mind a drive, M&T is a great butcher. Props is my favorite restaurant.

The Boyhood Home & Farm of Jimmy Carter
Plains, GA
The Boyhood Farm, once owned by Earl Carter, Jimmy Carter's father, has a rich history dating back to 1928 when it came under the Carters' ownership. For over two decades, Earl Carter cultivated a variety of crops, including corn, cotton, peanuts, and sugar cane, alongside maintaining a large family garden. Young Jimmy Carter called this place home from the age of four until he left for college, and it holds some of his earliest and most cherished memories.

Check out the bucket in the bathroom! My favorite thing!

Spring Bank Ferry
Doddridge, Arkansas
This is considered to be the oldest working ferry in Arkansas. Working in the 1820s until a bridge was built in 1963. It's an amazing find and a great little side trip if you are traveling in southwest Arkansas, especially if you have children. This is located on a beautiful park with clean and modern equipment to play on. The history is found on one of the markers that I took a picture of. Hopefully you can zoom and see it.

TBT - 2023
Rex the Dinosaur
Jacksonville, Florida

Located at 10150 Beach Blvd in Jacksonville Florida, Rex is an icon that goes way back. Originally the intimidation factor at a Goony Golf, he now stands tall as a work of art on the side of the road. With his glowing eyes and and towering at least 20 feet tall (there have been reports of up to 30 feet), this Jacksonville icon will forever be a stop for me.

The Boggy Creek Monster Festival at the Dancing Ranch Farm is a newer annual event, this being their second year. It's open Friday and Saturday and then a church service on Sunday. We went on Saturday where we saw the Boggy Creek Monster walking around although it alluded the camera. They had tons of vendors and food trucks, wrestling, scavenger hunts, bounce houses and more. We had a wonderful time even though we had some windy and cool weather. The only negative thing I could say was the children pressuring you to go to a certain vendor to purchase food. Big shoutout to Pam Kumpe, author of Lil'Foot. She's my kind of person!

Corsicana's Historic Carriage District
The Judge Simkins Home
Built in 1873, this home is Greek Revival style, and is one of the earliest homes in Corsicana. Elred James Simkins served 4 years in the Confederate Army. A brother, William S. Simkins was credited with firing the first shot at Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861. Elred James Simkins relocated to Corsicana in 1871. He established a law practice and built the first rooms of this house in 1873. E.J. Simkins was a Regent of Texas University from 1881-1893; served as a State Senator, from 1887-1892 and as a Justice on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, from 1893-1895.
