He was fully trained in classical piano by the age of 10, often performing in concerts and local social events. Beginning at the age of 15, Benny discovered the joys of playing keyboards and singing with Atlanta rock bands such as Perpetual Motion. Benny continued to pursue a music career accompanying such artists as The Drifters, Tommy Roe and Broadway singer Kathren Cherelle. In 1977 Benny lande
d a recording contract with Mercury Records as an individual singer/songwriter and as part of the rock band called The Younguns. Through the support of publisher, Bill Lowery, Benny's song "Wait Til the Time is Right" was chosen as Pick Hit of the Week in Billboard magazine in April 1977. While choosing to raise a family and remain in Atlanta, Benny has continued to perform with various local groups and as a solo entertainer. He has performed for such celebrities as Muhammed Ali, President Bill Clinton, Sen. Johnny Isakson, Gov. Sonny Perdue, Newt Gingrich and Evander Holyfield. Benny has served as house keyboardist at such local clubs as Hemingway's and Cowboy's accompanying such artists as Lone Star, George Jones, Travis Tritt, Toby Keith, Billy Dean, and Charlie Daniels. Benny also worked with the country recording group, Atlanta, whose well-known hits include "Sweet Country Music"and "Atlanta Burned Again Last Night". He also served as pianist and keyboard bassist for the favorite Atlanta group, Banks and Shane for over 15 years. He performed with this group at such venues as the Atlanta Olympics, World Series games, Fair Tax rallies, Kennedy Center, Six Flags, and ski resorts in Vail and Steamboat Springs. As a solo pianist, Benny has performed for weddings, bar mitzvahs, conventions, and corporate parties, as well as, piano bars in several local hotels such a Crowne Plaza Ravinia, Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons. Additionally Benny has performed at such country clubs as Capital City Club, Ansley Golf Club, Atlanta Athletic Club, Dunwoody Country Club,Piedmont Driving Club, Druid Hills Country Club, and 1818 Club. Benny is now available for solo piano work, and he can bring his expertise to fill any music need for your next event.
