Veteran Heating Assistance Program 2026-2027 🔥🇺🇸

We are pleased to share that the Veterans Heating Assistance Fund is entering its third year of operation! 🎉🇺🇸 Thanks to the generosity of individuals and organizations like yours, we have been able to assist 100 Veterans over the past two years. 🙌🏻

As colder weather approaches ❄️, we are reaching out to ask our generous community if you would consider donating 💖 to support this vital cause. Any contribution, big or small 💵✨, will help us provide warmth and comfort to Veterans in need. 🏡🔥

How the Program Works:

Fundraising:
The program is supported through local events 🎉 and direct donations 💰. All contributions are deposited into a dedicated account specifically for this initiative.

Referral & Assistance:
We accept referrals from organizations and individual requests from October 15, 2026, to April 16, 2027 📅. When a veteran in need requires heating fuel, Fielding’s Oil will deliver up to 200 gallons of discounted heating oil 🚚🔥 directly to them. The cost of this fuel is deducted from the dedicated program account. Given current oil prices 📈, we anticipate an increased demand this year.

Save the Date for a 250th Anniversary Gala to celebrate America’s Independence and honor all who served. Truly our nations heroes and we are forever grateful for their sacrifices.

Join us for this memorable evening! I encourage veteran clubs and organizations to consider sponsoring a table and having a presence to pay tribute and to honor the many heroes from across the State of Maine.

We will be working with Joy Lewis Asunción to get donated tickets into the hands of veterans that would like to attend and may not have the means.

On behalf of the Elks National Veterans Service Commission and the Maine Elks Association Veterans Program, State Veterans Chairman, Mike “Shu” Michaud and Committee Representatives presented all 6 Maine Veterans Homes in Augusta, Bangor, Caribou, Machias, Scarborough, and South Paris with this beautiful 250th Anniversary Commemorative Quilt and a check for $1,000.00 to each of the homes for their Activities Fund.

Mike also presented the Togus Veterans Administration with a Quilt and hosted a wonderful July 4th BBQ with gifts for our veterans.

We are truly honored and humbled to serve our veterans community throughout Maine.

May is Gold Star Awareness Month 💛

Throughout the month of May, we pause to honor and remember the families whose loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Gold Star Families carry a loss that words can never fully heal, yet they continue to show incredible strength, courage, and love. 🇺🇸

At Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., we stand beside our Gold Star Families and hold close the memories of the heroes who gave everything for our freedoms. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and neither will the families who continue to carry their legacy forward every day.

This month, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect, remember, and honor the service members who gave their lives in defense of our country.
