The second part of Update #2:

So where does this leave us entering 2026? Well, now that we can safely navigate the property, we are shifting our attention to the Wooded Section and damaged buildings.

• Clean-up and repairs have already started on four of the five damaged buildings (Office, Manager’s Cottage, Pine Cone Cabin, and Lake House). This work will continue through the winter into next season.
• Electrical work in the Wooded Section is scheduled to begin as soon as the weather breaks. This project is substantially larger and more expensive than we initially thought, as we have since discovered that the storm damaged 9 out of the 12 sites in that section. We also have to replace both electrical supply panels that feed The Wooded Section.
• Road repair and graveling will also continue throughout the Winter and into the Spring as it is financially feasible.

Even after over a year of work there’s still a lot to be done! We’ve just scratched the surface on restoring the property’s pond/drainage system, as well as cleaning the number of smaller creeks. The metal walking bridge to the island is salvageable but will require a sizable amount of work to restore. It’s also estimated that another 30 loads of shot rock will be required to finish filling in the main road going by the office. So, we’re not quite done yet. The rebuild has ballooned in ways we never could have imagined, but we’re not giving up and are truly grateful for all the progress that’s been made.

The first part of Update #2:

As 2025 comes to an end, we wanted to update everyone on where we’re at with the rebuild. Let’s start with the good news:
• Johnson & Sons Grading has completed the initial round (which started in April) of work on our roads and bridges.
• The new bridge over Greene Creek and repairs on the Little Rock Creek Bridge are now both complete.
• About 75% of the roads on the property are now passable, even if they are still a little rough.
• About half the yards/green spaces on the property are now cleaned up. Thanks to all the campers & volunteers who helped make this possible!
• An additional 10 trees have been taken down that posed a danger (this does not include trees blown down during Helene, those have already been cleaned up).
• Water has been restored to both the Creek View and Lake View sections of the campground.
• The Pine Cone Cabin is now back up on its foundation. Special thanks to the volunteers from Little Rock Creek Baptist Church for their help.

Finishing out the good news, we were actually able to soft open the Creek View and Lake View Sections of the property to seasonal/current campers in August and October, respectively.

Tomorrow we’ll post part two outlining where we're going and what still needs to be done in 2026!

Update #1: It's been about two weeks since the grading contractors started on the property. Things are final starting to look a little more like normal. Repairs on the main road are just shy of half done. So we're slowly making progress. Hopefully, we'll have a passable road very soon!

Also, please keep Janet in your prayers as she is undergoing surgery this morning at Advent Hospital in Hendersonville.

If your a Full Time Camper and you come on property to check your site/RV, please be aware we have multiple grading contractors working on the property with heavy equipment for the next couple weeks. Please avoid parking in areas they are working or interfering with their job sites. Hopefully, we will be able to announce a firm reopening date in the near future. 😃

Prior to Helene we had 8 ponds and a channel that fed our larger lake. Only 2.5 ponds survived. The rest were either filled in or collapsed during the storm.

Here's the first of a series of "before and after" pictures we plan to post over the next few weeks. The last 10 weeks have been a whirlwind and we just haven't had time to sit down and go through our pictures until now. This is just a taste of the scale and damage we sustained in September.

Saturday we finally said goodbye to the old wooden bridge. Originally built by Charles in the early 1980s, it stood over Little Rock Creek for over 40 years and survived 2 major floods (1998 & 2024). It was removed by the Army to prevent future flooding due to its low clearance.

Unfortunately, due to the heavy damage we received from Hurricane Helene, we are ending our season a month early. The good news is we're still here and plan to see everyone in 2025! We have been truly blessed by all the messages, phone calls, and volunteers that have reached out. Now that we have somewhat stable internet access we'll do our best to update everyone on the restoration efforts. God Bless and see you in 2025!
