September is closing out, but Baltimore's glowiest night of the year is still ahead.

Mark the calendar for October 24, when the Baltimore Lantern Parade fills Patterson Park with thousands of handmade lanterns for a slow, glowing walk through the dark. It might be the most quietly romantic night the city throws all year, and Rachael's is a short ride from the park.

We put together everything you need to know about the Baltimore Lantern Parade on the blog, including where to grab dinner first.

Baltimore's marathon crowd gets its first look at the course today, and our guests can watch for free.

Falls Road Running hosts the Official Course Preview Training Run starting from Patterson Park, a preview of October's Baltimore Running Festival route through Federal Hill, Fell's Point, and the Inner Harbor. Cheer on the runners, then reward yourselves with brunch somewhere along the route.

There is a pig race coming up in Baltimore, and it might be the most Baltimore sentence we write all year.

The Pigtown Festival takes over Washington Boulevard this Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. with live music, craft b**r, food vendors, and Squeakness, the neighborhood's beloved live pig race. It is a short trip from Rachael's and about as unmistakably local as Baltimore gets.

Book your stay and check in before the race!

Six blocks of Waverly are about to turn into a used bookstore, and it happens this weekend.

The Baltimore Book Festival hits its 30th year September 19 and 20, independent bookstores, author talks, and the neighborhood's Saturday farmer's market running right through the middle of it. Two days out, this is your reminder to book before the weekend fills up.

This house was standing before the Star Spangled Banner was even written.

Rachael's has stood on Washington Boulevard since 1790, more than two decades before Francis Scott Key watched the bombs over Fort McHenry a few miles from here. Four poster beds, a working fireplace, a century old magnolia in the courtyard. History you can actually sleep in.

The best thing happening in Baltimore tonight might just be a fireplace.

Rachael's has been standing since 1790, long before Camden Yards, before the harbor was full of tourists, before any of it. Four poster beds, a working fireplace in the parlor, brandy poured slow. No ticket required, no crowd to fight. Some nights the mansion is the whole plan.
