Beginning again August 21st in Kentucky, you can ride a “Bourbon Tasting & Dinner Train” aboard the My Old Kentucky Dinner Train’s “Bourbon Excursion”, where a bourbon expert leads you through paired tastings while a gourmet four-course dinner is served aboard restored 1940s dining cars. This adults-only experience departs from the depot at 602 North Third Street in Bardstown and covers 35 miles of Bourbon Country during a 2.5-hour roundtrip. Along the way, the train passes the Jim Beam distillery, a site known as Jesse James’ safe house, and Jackson Hollow Trestle in Bernheim Forest. Dinner is freshly prepared onboard, with entrée and dessert choices, while coffee, tea, soft drinks, and other nonalcoholic beverages are included. Guests can arrive early to browse the gift shop or order from the depot’s full-service bar, which carries more than 35 bourbons. The train has welcomed passengers since 1988, adding more history to the vintage rail experience. Remaining 2026 dates for the Bourbon Excursion showing availability include August 21 and 22, September 4 and 5, October 2, 3 and 23, and November 6 and 7. Tickets begin at $149.50 per adult, and every passenger must be 21 or older.
