Have you ever tried surf fishing? If not, it's one of those activities that you have to try at least once. Surf fishing vehicle permits allow vehicles to access designated beaches at Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore and Fenwick Island State Parks and Beach Plum Island Nature Preserve. Every Sunday Bethany Beach, DE hosts their farmer's market from 8am-12pm. Now is the time for fresh peaches. Stop by the lot at the corner of Garfield Parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue.

May 15th was the last day dogs could enjoy the beach in Bethany Beach until the offseason returns — but don’t worry, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the Delaware coast with your furry best friend 🐾🌊

Some of our favorite dog-friendly spots include:

💦 James Farm Ecological Preserve — a great place for pups to splash around and explore nature
🎣 Delaware Seashore State Park — perfect for surf fishing with your dog by your side
🌿 Assawoman Canal Trailhead — an easy scenic trail for a walk together
🛍️ Plus many shops around Bethany Beach welcome dogs too!

Beach days may pause after May 15th, but summer adventures definitely don’t 🐶☀️

🦀 Crabbing days are some of my favorite family memories. It’s such an easy and fun activity for kids, and every trip turns into a little adventure. 🎣☀️

You never know what’s going to show up in your crab trap or on your line… blue crabs, fish, horseshoe crabs, and sometimes even eels! 😳

Our crabbing essentials:
🧊 Ice box/cooler
🦀 Crab trap
📏 Measuring ruler
✋ Tongs to grab the crabs
🥤 Cold drinks
🪑 Beach chairs
⛱️ Umbrella

Favorite spots:
📍 Holts Landing – Dagsboro, DE
📍 Public Fishing Pier – Bishopville, MD

• License + FIN number required
• Kids under 16 are exempt
• Hard-shell blue crabs must be at least 5 inches

Most people visit Bethany Beach for the beach and seafood, but some of our favorite spots are actually off the beach 🌊🦀

If you’re looking for something peaceful to do with kids or just want a break from the crowds, check out Holts Landing State Park. The trail is flat and easy to walk, with beautiful bay and marsh views the whole way.

One of the coolest parts? Looking down from the boardwalk and spotting crabs and shellfish below. Such a simple but fun little adventure for kids to explore nature up close.

This is one of those hidden gems we probably would’ve missed if we hadn’t ventured beyond the beach.
