Big Bear Oktoberfest is in full swing this October!

One of Big Bear’s favorite fall traditions, Oktoberfest brings live music, dancing, German food, b**r, games, contests, and plenty of Bavarian fun to the mountains.

Planning your visit? Here’s what to know:

Friday: A more relaxed atmosphere with lighter crowds, shorter lines, tastings, and games.

Saturday: The full Oktoberfest experience with the biggest crowds, live music, dancing, costumes, and peak festival energy.

Sunday: A quieter, more family-friendly day with easier seating and a slower pace.

Make a weekend of it and pair Oktoberfest with fall colors, hiking, shopping in the Village, stargazing, and cozy evenings in the mountains.

Big Bear Oktoberfest runs through November 7 at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center. Popular Saturdays can sell out, so purchasing tickets in advance is recommended.

And yes, lederhosen and dirndls are encouraged! 🍻

You’ve just pulled up to the cabin and phew…it looks just like the photos. 😅

Exhale…there’s no crazy staircase to climb just to reach the front door. (Don’t even try to imagine that nonsense in the snow 😑)

And then you walk inside and…OMG. Look at this little cutie waiting to greet you. 🐿️🤎

Our sweet squirrel candy dish might be one of the tiniest details at Raven Ridge Retreat, but he makes us smile every time we walk through the door. And yes, there’s usually a little treat waiting inside. 🍬

Because your Big Bear getaway should start with a great view, an easy arrival, and, apparently, a squirrel bearing candy. 🐿️

This past weekend, Robert and I headed to Holcomb Valley Campground for the 2026 Rover Rendezvous!

Full disclosure: we may have cheated a little and stayed at Raven Ridge Retreat instead of camping. 😂 It was a last-minute trip, and we weren’t quite ready with all the necessary gear. When temperatures dropped below 30 degrees at the campground overnight, we were very happy to head back to a warm fire and cozy bed at the cabin.

But who knew there were such incredible rock-crawling trails just minutes from Big Bear Lake? We spent the day exploring beautiful trails with a great group of like-minded lovers of the great outdoors, taking in the scenery, spotting wild horses, plus Rob won a couple raffle items 🏆!

If your family is looking for a fun daytime adventure during your Big Bear stay, Holcomb Valley is definitely worth exploring. You can enjoy the rugged outdoors all day, then come home to a hot tub, warm fireplace, and comfortable night at Raven Ridge Retreat. 🏔️

We know it’s a fine line between kitschy and classy…and we strive to be the latter. 😉

Yes, there are other oven mitts available to you…but doesn’t it feel even more special pulling your muffins out of the oven with your raven mitt??

And sure, you could stir the batter in a regular ole bowl with a spoon at another cabin…or you could get your Martha Stewart on with our pine tree green KitchenAid mixer. Just sayin’. 💚

We had so much fun choosing these little details. We wanted the kitchen to have everything you might need, but also a little personality and a few unexpected touches that make you smile.

Because sometimes it’s the tiniest details you remember most. 🐦‍⬛🏔️

Nick and his family were an absolute pleasure to host…kind, communicative, self-sufficient, and incredibly respectful of our home. The kind of guests every host hopes will walk through the door.

And then Nick left us THIS review. 🥹🤎

After 20+ Big Bear rentals, hearing that Raven Ridge Retreat was “in a league of its own” and the one cabin he would actually return to is about as meaningful a compliment as we could receive.

And yes… he called me Sandra. 😂

OMG! I can’t tell you how excited I am about the new washer and dryer at Raven Ridge Retreat! 😍

Now, I realize most people do NOT choose a vacation rental because it has a sexy new washer and dryer, but hear me out. 😂

I LOVE staying in a posh rental with fancy appliances and gadgets for me to try, fall in love with, and then convince my husband that we absolutely need at home too. :)))

We just added a new LG washer and dryer, and not only are they HUGE inside, they’re beautiful and so quiet.

Coming up to Big Bear for a lake or ski weekend? Toss those wet clothes in the dryer. Staying for a week? Pack a little lighter. Kids somehow go through three outfits before lunch? We’ve got you. 😂

Is a gorgeous new washer and dryer the most glamorous amenity at a Big Bear cabin? Probably not.

Am I ridiculously excited about them anyway? Absolutely. 🤍

When we created Raven Ridge Retreat, we wanted it to feel peaceful and tucked into the forest, but still close to everything you come to Big Bear to enjoy.

We wanted cozy and comfortable. We wanted plenty to do without ever leaving the cabin. And, of course, we wanted all those little thoughtful details that I’m clearly a little obsessed with.

So when a guest mentions the peaceful setting, the hot tub, pool table, games, cleanliness, location AND those little details, it means so much to us.

And “can’t wait to come back” might just be our favorite part.

We had so much fun creating Raven Ridge Retreat, our Big Bear Lake cabin, and finding ways to add a tasteful little nod to our namesake in nearly every room.

Here, you’ll find a sweet little raven perched above your morning mugs, keeping watch over the coffee station. It’s one of the many small details we’ve added to make our Big Bear mountain getaway feel special from the moment you arrive.

We love a beautiful cabin in the woods, but that doesn’t mean everything has to be brown like the trees!

At Raven Ridge, you can look out AT the trees, breathe in the mountain air, and completely forget that the freeways and bustle of Los Angeles are only two hours away, all while enjoying a space that feels fresh, peaceful, and full of light.

Because your mountain escape should lift your spirits the moment you walk through the door.

I’m going to be honest… I have no idea if a single guest has ever actually used this little corner I curated. 😂 But I love knowing it’s here.

A quiet little spot to stretch, breathe, meditate, or just take a few minutes for yourself. No need to tote your yoga mat up the mountain…we have mats waiting for you, along with meditation pillows, warm lighting to make the space feel a little more special, and even a couple of how-to books if you need some inspiration.

Maybe it gets used all the time. Maybe it doesn’t. Either way, it’s one of those little details at Raven Ridge Retreat that makes me happy just knowing it’s there. 🧘‍♀️✨
