The Nest is all ready for our next guests! This stay is extra special because family is coming to town to attend Sundae on the Farm this weekend. I love that this little place brings people back home and helps reconnect them with our family’s farm and the community we love.

And of course, I love leaving a few special treats to make their stay even sweeter—the best chocolate and a bottle of wine from Creekside Winery. It’s the little touches that make hosting so much fun.

Welcome to The Nest… we can’t wait to have you! 🤍

She is complete. ❤️

Our life-size checkerboard finally has a home overlooking the beautiful Black River.

What started as an idea became a family project, and today we get to see it come to life. I can already picture guests gathering, laughing, making memories, and slowing down long enough to enjoy the view.

It’s the little touches that make a place special, and this one might just be my favorite.

Welcome to your new home, checkerboard. ♟️

Well… one little project turned into another 😍

We decided to replace the front room windows and combine the two middle windows into one large picture window overlooking the water. 🦅✨ I can already picture sitting there with coffee watching the eagles fly by.

I love bringing together the history and character of this cottage with the beauty of nature outside. Every update makes this place feel even more special for our guests.

Stay tuned because apparently I’m always thinking of the next project 🤍

✨ Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most ✨

Had a meeting out of town today… and of course I had to make a stop at HomeGoods 🛍️

I found the perfect piece of gold home decor, and it instantly spoke to me 💛

It represents my little nest… the home where I get to raise my three boys and create so many memories together. And the marble piece… that’s Travis, my husband and their dad. Our strong foundation. The one who keeps us grounded, safe, and secure.

I just love when a simple piece of decor can tell such a meaningful story. 🏡💕

The last room we’re highlighting is the basement rec area, and it’s such a fun space. We added new flooring, but I kept the original rustic wood because it just brings so much character to the home. There’s a cozy spot to sit back and watch a movie, and then it opens up into the game area.

We’ve got a Pac-Man arcade machine that is seriously addicting, plus shuffleboard, which is new to The Nest and perfect for all ages. There’s also a foosball table, a game table for cards, and a dartboard for even more fun. We’ll be adding a microwave and fridge to the counter to make it even more convenient for guests.

And one of the best parts, this space leads right out to the deck overlooking the Black River. The wall color down here is Sunday Stroll, and it ties everything together with that cozy, cottage feel.

The next bedroom we’re highlighting is the large upstairs room designed to host more guests 🤍

This space features three beds, making it perfect for families or groups staying at The Nest. For the walls, we used Agreeable Gray with bright white trim to keep the room feeling clean and airy. We paired that with white cast iron bed frames for that timeless cottage feel.

I wanted this room to feel welcoming for everyone, not too feminine, so we brought in a woodland inspired theme with subtle gold accents of animals and nature above each bed. It adds just the right amount of character while still feeling elegant and cozy.

We kept the bedding light and inviting with white linens, sheets, and duvets, then layered in cream blankets with terra cotta and green tones for a soft pop of color. Each bed also has a cream accent pillow and a soft leather pillow to add warmth and texture.

One of my favorite features is the window seat 🤍 It’s the perfect spot to sit, read a book, and relax while the natural light pours in through those beautiful white windows.

We also made sure the space is functional for guests. Each bed has a modern wood bench at the end for bags, gold reading lights by the queen bed, and unique wood pedestal nightstands on each side. And every nightstand has outlets, which makes it so convenient for everyone staying.

I just love how this room came together, cozy, functional, and ready to host so many memories 🤍

The next room we’re highlighting is the upstairs bathroom 🤍

I really wanted to keep this room bright, white, and clean while still honoring that cottage charm. Originally, this bathroom only had a cast iron tub with no shower, but it was important to me to add a second shower, especially for guests coming in for weddings and larger groups staying at The Nest.

We used classic subway tile and took it all the way from the cast iron tub up to the ceiling. It was a little tricky working around the slanted ceiling, but we made it work and I love how it turned out.

To soften the space, we added a white and gold floral wallpaper at the top of the walls for just a touch of warmth and detail. The floors were updated with a light wood vinyl plank, which keeps everything feeling fresh and bright.

We also updated the light fixture to really brighten the space while still keeping that cozy cottage feel with a few modern touches.

I just love how this room came together 🤍
