At Brand & Bayou, Dolly has always represented so much of what we believe in: the power of women, the courage to take control of your future, and the importance of women uplifting other women.
We have always admired how Dolly built something bigger than herself, not just for her own future, but for her family and the generations who would come after her. As sisters and mothers, we are proud to dare to do the same. To build something meaningful, create opportunities, and leave something behind for the people we love most.
Especially as little girls who often wore our own version of a coat of many colors, Dolly’s story reminded us that where you come from does not determine where you can go. You can come from humble beginnings, dream beyond what is in front of you, and build a life and legacy bigger than you ever imagined.
When we began designing our space, I knew Dolly was meant to have a place here with us. Her picture hangs proudly on our wall and her music plays throughout our office, reminding us to dream big, work hard, stay true to who we are, and never be afraid to chase what we want.
Thank you, Dolly, for inspiring generations of little girls and women to believe in themselves. Thank you for showing us that we can be strong, kind, ambitious, and unapologetically ourselves, and that the dreams we chase today can become a legacy tomorrow.
Rest in peace, Dolly. Your legacy will live on in every little girl who dares to dream big. 🤍🦋
