How does your club help new members get involved?

Welcoming a new member is only the beginning. We want to hear how your club encourages new Lions to participate, build connections, and find their place within the club.

Do you invite them to volunteer at an upcoming event? Encourage them to join a committee? Give them a specific role at meetings? Pair them with an experienced Lion?

Share what has worked for your club in the comments. Your idea might help another club create a stronger experience for its newest members!

Tonight is National Night Out, and communities across District 5M9 are coming together to celebrate the people who help keep them safe and strong.

From local law enforcement and fire departments to first responders, volunteers and community organizations, this is a great opportunity to build connections, thank local heroes and bring neighbors together.

Is your community hosting a National Night Out event tonight? Tell us where your Lions Club will be involved, and share a photo in the comments so we can see what is happening across the district!

You do not need a perfect speech to grow Lions.

You do not need a big membership pitch.

You just need to bring someone with you.

Bring someone to a meeting.
Bring someone to a service project.
Bring someone to a fundraiser.
Bring someone to breakfast, a club visit, or a night where Lions are having fun and doing good.

That is how the ripple starts.

One Lion invites one person.
One person sees what Lions are about.
One new member brings new energy to a club.
One stronger club serves even more people.

District 5M9 Lions, this is your August challenge:
Bring someone with you.

District 5M9 has a story worth telling.

But that story only gets stronger when every club helps share it.

This year, we want to highlight more service projects, more club milestones, more member stories, more fellowship, and more examples of Lions making a difference across the district.

If your club is serving, gathering, fundraising, welcoming new members, supporting youth, helping families, or building community, we want to know about it.

Send photos.
Send a short recap.
Send the names of the Lions involved.
Send the impact.

The more we share, the more people understand what Lions do.

Clubs should send July service photos and updates to the District 5M9 marketing team.

𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

Imagine being a parent who doesn’t realize your child is struggling to see the whiteboard in class. Your child isn’t falling behind because they can’t learn, they simply cannot see clearly.

That’s where Lions are making a difference.

Across District 5M9, Lions Clubs volunteer through the 𝗞𝗶𝗱𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 program to provide free vision screening for children, just like the 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘂𝘀 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗠𝗡 is doing at their county fair. Thanks to an LCIF grant, the MD5M KidSight Foundation was able to purchase specialized vision screening equipment that makes this important work possible.

That's the power of the 𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

LCIF transforms the generosity of Lions into grants that help clubs serve their communities in bigger ways. Through early vision screenings, children can be identified sooner and young lives can be changed.

Every grant creates opportunity. Every donation makes an impact. Every Lion helps build a stronger foundation for service.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗖𝗜𝗙.

Has your club had a project made possible through an LCIF grant? We'd love to hear your story in the comments!
