Two of my favorite photos ive take on this river!
The Buffalo National River isn’t just beautiful — it made history 🇺🇸

✨ Established in 1972 as America’s first National River
✨ Saved from being dammed thanks to passionate locals
✨ Flowing 135 miles through the rugged Ozark Mountains
✨ It helped shape Arkansas’ outdoor identity and tourism culture
✨ Bluff shelters along the river show evidence of early Native American life.

Free-flowing. Wild. Unforgettable.

Ready for this type of dinner!! Spring, here we come 🔥 🏕️

There’s a new kind of traveler today.

They call themselves adventurers.

But they don’t know trail etiquette.
They don’t know how to camp properly.
They don’t know how to respect the environment.
They don’t know how to respect locals.

They only know how to pose.

They show up loud.
They leave trash.
They treat mountains like a theme park.
They treat nature like content.

And if you call them out?

They’ll say, “Don’t be negative. Let people enjoy.”

Enjoy?

Nature isn’t a product.
Nature is not here to entertain you.

You don’t “enjoy” a place by destroying it.

You don’t “love” nature by treating it like your personal photo studio.

And the truth is:
Real outdoor people are usually the quiet ones.

They’re the ones who don’t need to prove anything.

They don’t need drones.
They don’t need matching outfits.
They don’t need 10 outfit changes.

They need fresh air.
They need peace.
They need silence.
They need a break from the noise of life.

If you’ve been hiking for years, you know what I mean.

The outdoors is sacred.

And it’s time we stop applauding people who treat it like a playground.

Turn up your volume to hear the water flowing over rocks right off the bank of this gorgeous campsite. Out of all the ones we viewed, this was our favorite!

Perfect area for swimming as well and just a couple miles from a large waterfall and bigger swimming hole.

🌿 Richland Creek Wilderness – Ozark National Forest, AR 🌊

Tucked deep in the rugged Boston Mountains, Richland Creek flows nearly 30 miles through an 11,801-acre wilderness area established in 1984. It’s one of Arkansas’ most scenic and wild places.

✨ Crystal-clear water & massive 100-ft sandstone bluffs
🌊 Stunning waterfalls like Twin Falls, Richland Falls & Hamilton Falls
🚣‍♂️ Premier Class II–IV whitewater (best in winter & spring)
🥾 Wild, unmaintained hiking trails (true backcountry feel)
🏕️ 9 primitive first-come campsites
🦌 Wildlife sightings: deer, black bear & wild turkey

📍 Located in Newton & Searcy Counties, the creek eventually feeds into the Buffalo National River.

🚗 Good to Know: Access requires miles of gravel Forest Service roads (FS 1205), so come prepared. No maintained trails = real wilderness adventure.

Fun fact: This area is part of one of the most rugged sections of the Ozarks, shaped over millions of years — and you can literally picnic at the top of a waterfall before hiking down to swim below.

If you love wild places, waterfalls, and a little off-the-beaten-path adventure… Richland Creek belongs on your list. 🌄
