Buckeye Chapter of the GPAA

Buckeye Chapter of the GPAA The Buckeye Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America was formed in 1996. We welcome you to join us at one of our chapter meetings.

The Buckeye Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America was founded in 1996 to provide a place for GPAA members to meet in Ohio. As an educational non profit organization, the BCGPAA travels to area trade shows and hosts various youth groups to provide guidance in gold prospecting. The organization is self supporting by the members and individuals who attend our meetings and functions.

Wanted to give an early heads up to anyone who is camping at Swank. There is the potential for sever weather and major flooding Wednesday evening into the overnight hours of early Thursday morning. The NWS forecast discussion is expecting a line of 3-5" of rain to develop in a few short hours. This could be west of the river basin, but could also be in this general area. This type of rain in a short amount of time will bring the river up very quickly, and it will leave the banks.

If you have not been down there when this happens, you cannot get out. It gets very bad. Please keep your eyes on the weather diacussion as they day goes on tomorrow if you choose to stay.

Bring a chair and a beverage to the firepit near the Main Pavilion on Saturday night around 8PM for a Prospector Campfire. This has turned into a group favorite the last few years. Then around 9 PM, kick back for Movie Night and enjoy a bag of popcorn while watching the movie under the stars. We hope you can join us!

Just a heads up. Generators will be allowed in the White and Blue zones for Foasick. Since we do not stake out the Wade Gatton side, it is only appropriate to allow them for Fossick in those areas. If you have a loud old school generator, please restrict those to daytime only. Quiet generators are allowed 24/7 at Fossick.

What are all of the keys scattered around the property you ask? On Saturday of Fossick, The Key Hunt will commence once again this year. If you find random keys scattered in the grass, bring them to the main pavilion. On the corner of the pavilion by the potluck table, there is a padlock. See if your key opens the lock. If it doesn't, drop your key in the bucket below. If it does, quietly lock the lock again and keep ahold of the key. Do not tell anyone! A prize will be distributed to the keyholder that opens the lock at the evening drawings.
