Thank you Sue Nienhuis for donating 9 crocheted hats to give to the Long Beach Veterans Hospital. We are collecting through May but the hospital always has a need and anything you can give is appreciated. If you would like to arrange a time for delivery or you have questions, email [email protected]. The original email is below:
To our Orange County Sewing Community - (Non-members and members alike!) We have an opportunity to give back!
A volunteer from the Long Beach Veterans Hospital has reached out to our Chapter with a request for items to support Veterans during their hospital stays. As many of us know, hospitals can feel quite chilly, and for those staying for an extended time, having something warm and comforting can make a meaningful difference. For those who don’t quilt, crochet, or knit, there are many great tutorials available for upcycling sweaters and t-shirts into scarves and hats.
If you’re able to help, donations can be given to your Neighborhood Group Leaders, or you send an email to [email protected] to arrange for pickup. We will collect through May 31st.
Our Neighborhood Group dates and times are below.
Requested Items:
Quilts (hospital bed size)
Blankets (crocheted or knit, hospital bed size)
Hats
Scarves
Items for toiletry kits (full-size only):
shampoo & conditioner, shaving cream, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, lotion, feminine hygiene products, etc.
*Please label any items that are made with wool.
** Items can be color of choice, preferably gender neutral - they do not have to be patriotic.
Thank you for helping us bring comfort to those who have served our country.
