Hello, friends! Erica here, with a bit of a marathon post. I’ve been running this account since 2019, when we bought a neglected old Dutch Colonial on Madison Avenue and started fixing her up. Since then, that house has become a thriving Airbnb, and we’ve started helping other local homeowners run their own vacation rentals. You may have been with us on part or even all of this journey. And now it’s time for our next chapter.
First off, I have the bittersweet pleasure of announcing that Cape Charles Cottage, our home on Madison, will very soon have new owners. Over the last few weeks, we have gotten to know the lovely family buying the house, and we feel confident it will be in good hands. They plan to continue running the house as an Airbnb and will honor all existing bookings. (I’ll be in touch soon with all current guests about transferring bookings.) Secondly, I’m also passing the reins of my vacation rental management business to two incredible ladies. Jamie and Sydney are the owners of Be Still Getaways, LLC and Carriage House Short Term Rentals. They are absolute pros in the world of short term rentals and Jamie in particular has been a huge inspiration to me throughout my hosting journey. I know they’re so excited to continue growing Cape Charles Escapes, and I hope you’ll continue supporting them!
As for our family, we are embracing the opportunity to simplify our lives a bit in 2022 and take a breather before moving on to our next projects. We’ll be spending a month in France this spring, and who knows? We may even check out some French fixer uppers. If you’d like to stay in touch, please follow my personal account on Instagram .
