Deer season for me begins in January. I spend a good bit of time in January & February repairing deer stands, tweaking shooting lanes & this year setting up some new deer feeders.

If it has fins or furs it will get my attention. Set up two new feeders this morning - got one more to go. 🦌 Am already looking forward to hunting season.

There are 5 P’s associated with hunting & fishing - “Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance” 😀 (at least that’s what I was taught).

Only a couple weeks before fishing season begins for me. Spent the last several days putting the finishing touches to farm project work before I have to shove off …

✔️Tractor Serviced For Planting Season
✔️ Dug Trenches & Repaired Roads
✔️ Repaired Feeders
✔️ Minor Deer Stand Maintenance

I LOVE TO HUNT! Having safe, easy access to the property is a must. “Don’t be upset by the results you didn’t get with the work you didn’t do.”

PS - The folks at Wilson Tractor 🚜 are great. Service work was completed in a timely & effective manner! Highly recommend them.

StriperMike.net … GREAT October 2021 memory. Went striper fishing 🎣 one morning with a good friend & deer 🦌 hunting in afternoon with another buddy. My idea of “surf & turf.”

The fish were so thick under the boat at various times you could feel the spoon hitting the fish going down. Bite was great! Got in deer stand around 4:00pm. Fell asleep - when I woke up deer was standing 60 yards from stand 😃. Ended the day with some fins & fur.

There is no better place to live than South Carolina. “We eat by the land and by the sea.”

I’m gonna borrow a couple quotes from the movie Field of Dreams - “Is This Heaven” … no this is God’s gift to deer 🦌 hunters. This might be as close to it as I can get for a while. “So beautiful here - It’s the place where dreams come through.”

Saw silhouettes of what looked like deer just before safe light this morning. Rule is simple - NO shooting until safe light!! Deer disappeared and a large flock of Turkey appeared. I stopped counting at 20 😱. I might have to take up Turkey hunting this spring. 😃 🦃 Friend I was hunting with shot a small buck. I saw lots of scrapes & rubs - it’s just a matter of time.

Man it felt good to be sitting in that deer stand this morning. Couldn’t hunt last year - had surgery on shooting eye. Gonna send my eye doctor a note letting him know he did a good job. Got a feeling the deer 🦌 might not like 😱.

It’s time to start planting. Before getting started had to instal a thermostat in tractor (tractor was running hot). Got a few skinned knuckles, but got the job done this morning. The Kubota is ready to disk fields now 😃. Will be planting corn & sorghum in April & May - winter peas will be planted first of September. God, Family, Fishing & Hunting ... sums it up nicely.

My fishing has been scaled back a little this spring due to recent gov’t virus regs. Am doing my part to comply. “When you are served lemons make lemonade.”

Working at my farm has filled the gap nicely. Been grading roads & working on deer stands 🦌. Next up - planting. Gonna have some happy deer til Oct 11th (opening day of deer season).
