Had a blast this morning on Charlotte Today chatting with Eugene Robinson about dating and drinking. When going on a first date, the “I don’t drink” can create a false narrative of not being able to have a good time.
Knowing where to go can be helpful to avoid the “why are you not drinking” stigma. And having sophisticated options creates a more interesting conversation.
Although 86Spirits has stopped distribution as a business, we are still passionate about the movement to dilute our current drinking culture with healthier options than just alcohol and we are happy to have a voice to support that mission.

This Sunday afternoon, beat the heat and swing by Tommy’s Pub. Tommy’s is the leader in the NA space with more variety of NA choices than any other bar I have been to. That’s because the owner, Jamie Starks, gets it. He himself has been sober 23+ years and still loves to pour and drink a good cold one.
The full line of Ritual NA spirits, Amethyst, Kentucky 74, and others, sits proudly front and center of this fully stocked traditional neighborhood bar. To top that off, Tommy’s also has the best selection of NA beers, including, Guinness 00, which is indistinguishable from the traditional pint of Guinness and my new favorite NA beer hands down.
This Sunday, is a special event to raise awareness that everyone can enjoy being social and listen to live music in a good neighborhood dive bar, with or without alcohol. Sober Sunday is open to everyone who loves to drink, whatever it be, 0-100 percent, so come out, make new friends, and hear great music.

86 Spirits had a blast filming with Eugene Robinson, on Charlotte Today, celebrating National Margarita Day with zero proof margaritas. We also learned some cool facts … 1) nobody really knows the historic beginning of the margarita, but we read at least 7 stories claiming to be “the one”. 2) The frozen margarita was invented by a restauranteur in Dallas, Texas, who hated the time consuming process in blending them. He thought of taking his fathers very popular recipe off the menu, but then one day he noticed the slushy machine at the 7-11 and he had a lightbulb moment. What if there was another way?… Unfortunately, the 7-11 refused to sell him one, so he purchased an ice cream machine instead and happy hour has never been the same since. We just love learning these cool fun facts about what’s in our glass. Cheers everyone and enjoy the 100 percent fake, but very happy and well deserved holiday.

Back to the grind in 28205...Pun intended.
The Giddy Goat coffee shop is a really cool spot. The space, the people, the food, and of course, the coffee. The rentable upstairs bar area is a fantastic party space. We are working on going zero to hundred proof on the back bar and hope to be up an running soon. If you need coffee to stay tuned, The Giddy Goat, is coming soon.
