📢 Closing On-Water The Remainder Of Lake Season 📢
First, my heart is with everyone who has been impacted by the flooding, especially those who have lost lives, homes, belonging, and a sense of security. Let's continue to be a SUPer community by lending a hand wherever you can!
Not only has our reservoir's water levels rose due to the flooding but has been contaminated by agricultural run off, field overflow, and urban stormwater with sewer that has entered through the Cicero Creeks, which flow from the White River into Morse, back to the White River.
The Hamilton County Health Department originally paused water testing at Morse Beach and Park for safety, but then tested last Friday to open before the triathlon. Since that is on the opposite side of the lake where I launch, I paddled myself to test water safety on my routes this past Sunday.
Due to large trees being down, heavy tree debris, algae film, and other contamination around my launch point in and around paths, it's not only difficult to paddle, but unsafe and unenjoyable. Unfortunately, I am making the difficult decision to close the remainder of the season to let Mother Nature recover and for your safety; which is my number one priority.
I want to thank those of you who have been SUPer flexible, patient, kind and understanding with not only myself, but Mother Nature when it came to rescheduling and now cancelling paddleboard experiences--even multiple times. I'm so thankful to have you apart of my Stand Up community and I look forward to paddling with you starting May 1, 2027!
