What’s the case for renting a hot tub versus buying one? There’s a couple things you need to consider before you pull the trigger. This is how you should break it down.
1. Location – are you in your forever home or do you see yourself moving in the near future? Are you a renter? Are you military? If you feel like buying your Landlord a hot tub, there’s nothing that I can do to stop you. That said I don’t think it’s a great investment if you don’t see yourself in the same place for a long period of time.
2. Cost – when you’re buying a hot tub you’re not just purchasing a unit, you have to make sure everything is set up correctly.
- Laying down a slab in your backyard can run you anywhere from $750 to a couple thousand.
- Reinforcing your deck, if you choose to put it there, will cost a pretty penny and it’s not something you can skip out on if you don’t want 3000 pounds worth of hot tub to plummet to the ground.
- Most large hard sided hot tubs will require a 220 outlet, so you’ll need to make sure electrical comes out to do that
- You’ll also need to run waterlines to the tub so that you can fill and drain the unit itself
- I’ll tell, you could be looking at spending $15,000 before you dip a toe in the water
3. Maintenance – when you rent a hot tub with Great Escape Spas, maintenance is taken care of for you. When you purchase a hot tub that maintenance is on you or whoever you hire to make sure that your water is always crystal clear and the mechanics are working properly.
Along in the short, is that owning a hot tub is not for everyone, but renting a hot tub is for just about everybody!
