A winter storm moves in tonight and lasts into Tuesday. Winter Storm warnings are in effect over most of northern Wisconsin while Winter Weather advisories are in effect over northeastern Minnesota. The heaviest snowfall will be across northwest Wisconsin. Lake effect snow will also be possible with this system along the North shore. This system will cause hazardous travel conditions during the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

WINTER STORM TONIGHT/THURSDAY: A winter storm will move into the Northland this evening, bringing two bursts of heavy snowfall. The first burst of snow will begin for most areas around 6 PM tonight and last through the early morning hours tomorrow. The heaviest snow from this first burst will be in Minnesota. A brief lull in the snow is expected during the Thursday morning commute, with only light snow expected for most areas. A second burst of heavy snow will begin late Thursday morning, affecting northwest Wisconsin the hardest. Snow will end from west to east late Thursday evening, except for lingering lake effect snowfall along the South Shore of Lake Superior. In addition, winds will be gusty near Lake Superior, with winds ranging from 10-15 mph and gusting as high as 20 mph. This will create areas of blowing snow and low visibilities.
