To those that don’t know…we have our sticks and bricks under contract, moved into our new RV, left Oklahoma yesterday headed towards Amarillo, TX, stayed at the Loves RV Parking in Amarillo, TX. Love’s was clean, nice, easy to park the big rig and had two dog parks for “the kids”.
We headed towards Raton, NM, got 30 min outside of Amarillo and POP…thought we had a blowout BUT all 10 tires were intact, ChatGPT diagnosed the problem but unfortunately we we were just out of reach of a mobile tech (which was probably best) so we called Cierra Towing (thanks to T-Mobile satellite cell service because there wasn’t a cell signal) and they showed up alongside a TWO LANE highway that was NOTHING BUT semi-truck traffic blowing by us at warp speeds! These two gentleman literally risked their lives alongside the road hooking up our GMC Dually AND our 36’ new RV, towed us to Dalhart, TX to the kindest dealership Hart Chevrolet where they not only fixed our truck BUT let Dale and I PLUS 3 DOGS camp out ON THEIR SHOWROOM FLOOR while they provided water for the dogs, took us to get food and helped us find a hotel room to stay the night due to bad weather.
THEN, a sweet young man that works for Cactus Drilling was waiting to get his truck serviced, gave us and the 3 dogs a ride to our hotel for the night!
Dale and I DO plan to start a video blog once we get our feet underneath us a bit and I come to a point of being comfortable with a camera in my face after no shower for two days and covered in west Texas dirt (possibly cursing a lil’ bit) we vowed from the beginning to not be one of those YouTube channels that only complained about how bad RV Parks are or how much trouble we encounter along the way.
So, today we kept smiles on our faces and a good attitude BUT if it wasn’t for the OVERWHELMING KINDNESS STILL ALIVE IN WEST TEXAS things might have turned out much differently.
We thank the GOOD LORD for our safety and thank you Hart Chevrolet, Cierra Towing and the sweet young gentleman that works for Cactus for making a bad experience an experience that is a true testimony of how there are still GREAT people in this great country!❤️🙏❤️🙏
We also HIGHLY recommend the $10 a month satellite cell option through T-Mobile and always always buy that extended warranty when you buy a vehicle! When running the roads like full-time rvers do, it’s not about IF you’ll need it but ALL about WHEN you will need it!
LASTLY BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST…I want to thank my partner Dale for being the man that he is to me and our family! He never lost his cool, he kept a positive attitude, never showed fear and wasn’t ever “shaken” by the circumstances. We are on a JOURNEY not running a sprint and as he always says “there is joy in the journey!”
