What the Hell RVing

What the Hell RVing Hello, from WTH RVing.

We named our Blog this because we are retired and decided to take a leap of faith by giving up our sticks and bricks home, load up the dogs and move-in to an RV full-time while we still had the energy to do so….So “WHAT THE HELL?!”

Dale is sizzling steaks during our super relaxed practice getaway before we embark on our first huge family adventure vacation in Daytona, FL. Afterwards, we fly back to Oklahoma, go pick up our poopies 🐕 that are with DeeDee at doggie school then we're heading back to the RV to cruise on over to Thousand Trails Blue Mesa, CO on June 8, 2026 which will be the ACTUAL FIRST TIME RVing for the WTHRVING CREW!

HELLO FOLLOWERS! I promise one day we are actually going to get this thing going but as for now it’s been, eat, sleep, unpack, sleep some more, eat some more and repeat lol! We have been at LETRA “Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area” on Ft.Sill since last Friday. It’s a very clean and quiet campground with canoeing, mini golf, fishing and a variety of different activities.
You MUST get a visitors pass before entering if you do not have a DOD Card. We are enjoying ourselves and using this time as an opportunity to settle in, book our trips and rest. ❤️🙏❤️🙏

Finally found rv organization hacks I’m obsessed with 🚐. Maximizing small-space storage, keeping gear accessible, and preventing clutter - these Amazon finds make road-tripping so much easier, perfect for weekend getaways and long cross-country adventures. ✨🚐

So, WTHRVING here is just chiming into the scary side of life! Dale went to bed, so stupid me decided to watch a “real life” horror film about a real life investigative report on hunting down a serial killer - not a great idea at all! “Strange Harvest” - I’ll never be okay again, darn it!
SO, now I hear every noise outside! It’s not a great feeling. So now I’ll watch another blah haha!

What can possibly go wrong with “Nightmare on Elm Street” 1984…

Hello fellow followers..that was a lot to say at one time. SO, eventually our goal is to start a page and post videos etc of our travels. We watch a lot of YouTube videos as that’s been a destination for content on do’s and do NOTS of living in a camper full-time.
We know there are millions of “those” videos on YouTube so what we aspire to achieve is to spread positivity, beautiful scenery, some occasional struggles but many many little BLESSINGS along the way. We are setting forth upon our adventure to see and share all of God’s beautiful creations within this great country!
I’m not sure how the video side of this will develop as I’m not a fan of being on camera nor hearing my voice being broadcast!

What I DO want to share right now today is an update that will feel so so small to many but maybe it’ll hit home to someone! I’ve been trying to get moved out of this house now for like 2-3 weeks which isn’t a long time. However, this is approximately the 10th-12th time I’ve moved in the last 10 years. Each time that I have moved I have purged massive amounts of “things”… that costs a lot of money. Then, I turn right around and buy more things…I move…I purge those things. Getting rid of THINGS is torture for me. I’ll tell you why…I put sentimental value into EVERYTHING! Whether it’s an old picture of my parents…a shirt that reminds me of something special…or a shirt or pair of shoes that I once loved…the list goes on.

I CLEANED OUT MY CLOSET TODAY and I don’t mean I got rid of a few things…I got rid of thousands and thousands of dollars worth of things that still had tags on them…at many points in my life (since I was a small child) I thought I HAD to have “things” to feel complete. I hauled it all into my living room floor for Mike and Rosie Southerland to pick up today. That was a monumentally freeing moment for me!

What I realized while doing that is…I’ve not been buying, owning or collecting things…THINGS have been OWNING ME! I bought and bought…trying to fill a hole that wasn’t capable of being filled by money and things. Is this you? Do you experience this? If so drop a line!

I am not too proud to admit that my life has been clouded by mental illness and just overall things that I’m trying to understand and heal. My Prayer for all of us is that we step out of the dark…seek God…and understand that our greatest joy is just on the other side of our fears!

Take the risk…follow your dreams….please spend time reflecting on your own reasons and meaning of life. If that’s enjoying kids and grandkids then embrace that…no matter what it is…DO IT WITH PURPOSE and PRAY that GOD will direct your path. Always be kind, always protect the weak and always always be true to yourself!

Until next time…God Bless and I love you all.

My best advice this far IS if you are considering buying an RV…..
1) Decide what is important to you and what you can really do without in your home.
2) Go to a big showroom, MANY BIG SHOWROOMS. Sit in them and keep a log of the pros and cons of each.
3) Make double, triple sure that your tow vehicle is absolutely sound enough to tow what you want to buy!
4) Quickly learn what you can sacrifice and what is non- negotiable!
5) Once you have found 3 units you “like” start price shopping! Consider not only the price of the unit but the cost of warranties as well.
6) DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE WARRANTY…you need it!
7) Be prepared to compromise on amenities.
😎 Don’t purchase pre-packaged “starter kits” on hoses etc. you’ll pay too much for low quality material.
9) Your interest rate, warranty price, and purchase price are ALL negotiable!
10) Purchase…enjoy your freedom…because really, WHAT THE HELL..why not?!

Things to avoid with the RV’ing lifestyle! Have enough in savings to take a flight to the important things! No missing out on important family events!

I spoke to the mechanic again this morning and he had good news and bad news. The good news is that after a week and a half of waiting, the new oil cooler has arrived!

The bad news is that the shop is absolutely swamped and won’t be able to get to our repairs until the start of next week, which will delay our departure until close to the end of the month.

Unfortunately, that means that we are going to miss the birthday of my butterfly’s grandson, which was the entire reason for our haste and our early departure. We will also be late for our scheduled appointment to have the bus mural painted, but thankfully the artist has been very understanding of our unexpected challenges.

This is the way that this lifestyle works, and I’m hopeful that we will be able to make it up to her grandchild with hugs and an extra birthday cake perhaps, and maybe we can save a slice for the muralist too
