I have worked through some of the most challenging times in the travel industry—from 9/11 and devastating hurricanes to the COVID-19 pandemic—and I am proud to say that I not only survived, but continued to serve my clients through every crisis.

These events demonstrated the true value of a dedicated travel professional. When flights were cancelled, borders closed, hotels shut down, and travel plans changed overnight, I was there for my clients. I spent countless hours on hold with airlines, hotels, cruise lines, and tour operators, navigating ever-changing policies and fighting to secure the best possible outcomes for the people who trusted me with their travel.

I handled rescheduling, cancellations, rebookings, refunds, credits, and countless unexpected challenges—often under extraordinary pressure. While technology and online booking sites can sell a trip, they cannot replace an experienced professional who is there when everything goes wrong.

Those crises reinforced why what I do matters. My clients know that when the unexpected happens, they have someone in their corner who will answer the phone, find solutions, advocate on their behalf, and stay with them until the problem is resolved.

PSA: One of the most common things I hear is:

"I already have travel coverage through my credit card."

That's a great place to start—but it's worth taking a closer look at what that coverage actually includes. Many travelers are surprised to learn there can be important differences between credit card travel benefits and a dedicated travel protection plan.

Here are a few questions to consider:

Does your coverage include emergency medical expenses while you're traveling, or does it only reimburse eligible trip costs?
Is there a deductible, or do you need to maintain a $0 credit card balance or meet other requirements before benefits apply?
Does it include emergency medical evacuation, which can cost tens of thousands of dollars?
What are the coverage limits for medical expenses, trip interruption, baggage, and other benefits?
Is the coverage primary or secondary?

Many credit card and supplier-provided travel protection programs offer secondary coverage, which means you may need to file claims with other insurance providers first before benefits are paid. Coverage limits may also be lower than those offered by a comprehensive travel protection plan.
