Every spring she comes back and honestly… it never gets old.

There’s something about watching her return that feels personal. Like she’s choosing us. Like out of every stretch of river in Florida she decided that this is where her family belongs.

I’ll be honest — there are days running this place where you wonder if you’re doing enough. If the decisions you’re making are the right ones. If the people and the wildlife and the history that make this place special are being honored the way they deserve.

And then you look up and she’s back.

Two chicks this year. Tiny, scrappy, full of fight.
Tucked underneath her wings like nothing in this world could touch them.

She doesn’t doubt herself. She just shows up, builds her nest, and gets to work.

Maybe there’s something in that for the rest of us.
