To a veteran, the difference is important! We do appreciate your gratitude for our service and sacrifices, but honestly hearing that on Memorial Day - a day meant to honor our fallen - is a bit awkward. Memorial Day is a to reflect on those who have perished in the pursuit of our freedoms. For some, this includes our friends, comrades and chosen family. Please honor them this Memorial Day (and always!) by saying their names and remembering their sacrifices. To those of us that came home, it is more important and appropriate that you acknowledge those that did not.
