This week our flag will be lowered at half staff to honor the one and only Dolly Parton. Dolly is more than a country music icon, she did so much for her communities in East Tennessee and never stopped giving back. Here at Indian Creek Lodge, we hope to bring some of her magic, light, and southern hospitality all the way from the Smoky Mountains to the Trinity Alps. Growing up in East Tennessee means knowing who Dolly is, but carrying the goodness she embodied all the way across the country is honoring who she was.

There’s nothing quite like putting your hands on a fresh Trinity River king salmon. Every time I land one, it reminds me why I love this fishery.

The kings are here, and they’re showing up in good numbers. The bite hasn’t been easy—some days we’re limiting out, and other days we’re working hard for every fish. That’s salmon fishing. But when one finally commits, the fight is absolutely worth it. These fish pull hard, and every one feels earned.

More king salmon are making their way home to the upper Trinity River every day, and the fishing just keeps getting better.
