Celebrating 45 Years of Excellence in Environmental Health!

Since September of 1981, the North Carolina Environmental Health State of Practice has supported environmental health professionals through exceptional training, professional development, and collaboration.

For 45 years, NCEHSOP has brought together dedicated specialists, volunteer instructors, partner organizations, and public health professionals from across North Carolina, all committed to strengthening our profession and protecting the health of the communities we serve.

We are incredibly proud of this organization’s history and deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to its success. Here’s to 45 years of “Training by Specialists, for Specialists”, and to many more years of learning, partnership, and service!

“A Day in the Life of a Driller” was another huge success for NCEHSOP. It was an excellent opportunity for environmental health staff to interact with well contractors. A special thanks to the NC Groundwater Association for helping put this class on!

We had another amazing Environmental Health Symposium this year! A huge thank you to Northeastern University for hosting us, to all our presenters for sharing their time and expertise with such excellent talks, and to our vendors for generously sponsoring this event. We appreciate everyone who helped make it a success!

Our campus proudly hosted the NC Ehsop (North Carolina Environmental Health State of Practice) Symposium, with Dean Hosking delivering opening welcome remarks to kick off this important gathering. Over two days, environmental health professionals from NC Department of Health and Human Services, Asheville Water, & North Carolina Septic Tank Association explored critical topics including Hurricane Helene response strategies, septic system innovations, and regulatory perspectives on emerging health challenges. We're honored to support North Carolina's environmental health community and provide a platform for sharing knowledge that protects public health across our state.

5 On Your Side reports weekly on restaurants in our area that get a less-than-ideal health score. Sometimes, those restaurants that get "B" or "C" sanitation grades don't get reinspected for a year or more.
