Cute shop alert! If your Door County exploration takes you to the Gills Rock/Hedgehog Harbor area, be sure to visit Hill House for a one of the most charming shopping experiences around. If you time your visit right, you may witness the Monarch butterflies taking a shortcut through the shop's open windows!

Their website sums up the shop perfectly: "The shop is an ever-changing collection of practical housewares, textiles, treasures new and old, souvenirs, knick-knacks, snacks, treats, and whatever else catches our eye."

UPDATE: Labor Day Weekend has been booked. Some good September options are still available, especially mid-week stays. Sleeps 7; great location between Egg Harbor and Sturgeon Bay on scenic Bay Shore Drive.

We stopped at yesterday to pick up our Wine Club selection. While we were there, we checked out their beautiful patio update.

Tucked away on 30 acres in the heart of Door County, family-owned Simon Creek is the largest vineyard property in Wisconsin. In addition to their award-winning wines, they offer live music; beer, cocktail, and bourbon taps; a nice selection of wine-pairing snacks; a comfortable lounge area (complete with games;) and a little corner to shop for fun wine-inspired gifts.

Plan a visit to Simon Creek on your next trip to Door County or consider their indoor or outdoor spaces for an upcoming event. It's a beautiful spot.

As visitors make their way to Sturgeon Bay and areas north, they usually drive right past the Door County Welcome Center. Open 24/7, it always offers the newest Peninsula Pulse newspaper, Destination Guide, and up-to-date brochures for attractions to explore throughout the county. During their staffed business hours, the Welcome Center is staffed with knowledgeable and friendly Visitor Service Team members.

Monday–Friday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As mentioned on their website, the Welcome Center features two EV charging stations (north side of building,) outlets in the lobby, a front porch with rocking chairs, a place to walk the dog, and Free Wi-Fi.

A rare day in Baileys Harbor - it was almost 90 degrees! We beat the heat with a cold drink (and a "small" onion loaf) in the shade at Coyote Roadhouse, enjoyed the walk-in cooler at Waseda Farms, waded in the refreshing water of Kangaroo Lake, and savored Gelato from Harbor Frozen Custard. On our way back to Three Little Birds, we cut across to TR Pottery in Fish Creek and enjoyed the shopping as well as the lovely setting. A very good day all-around!

"If you are looking for a fantastic place to stay in Door County that is dog friendly, look no further. Situated between Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor, this property offers privacy while still being close to the action.
"The home has a great set-up for multiple people with the primary bedroom on the main floor and the other bedrooms upstairs. The kitchen is open to the dining room and Living Room so everyone can be together regardless of what is going on.
"The cleanliness was amazing. Everything was immaculate and everything was labeled. Anything you might need was made available inside and outside, including tons of yard games, bikes, etc.
"The property has two fire pits with chairs and a screened in porch that you and your 4 legged companions will love. Take a short walk to the dead end street to see amazing sunsets over the Bay.
"Bob Marley says “Don’t worry, ‘bout a thing” and we didn’t have to at 3 Little Birds."

About 15 years ago we purchased a cute little Door County guidebook that quickly became our go-to reference for things to do in Door County. Although the book is out of print, there are still many tips that are relevant today.

Tip #65 is "See the hard-working goats on the roof of Al Johnson's Restaurant." This tip, first published about 30 years ago, is still fun advice for Door County visitors. Between late May and mid-October, weather permitting, you can enjoy this unique roadside attraction. If you miss the goats when you visit, look for the Goat Cam on their website!

In addition to the famous goats on the roof, Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant & Butik is well known for its Swedish meatballs and pancakes. They also have unique shops and a family-friendly outdoor beer garden, Stabbur. Skål!
