Absolutely love Grandfather Mountain at all times of the year!

Summer at Grandfather holds so much beauty! A well-known bloom in July includes this flower that is commonly mistaken for some of its popular spring variants.

Pictured here is rosebay rhododendron, which typically blooms much later than the vibrant Catawba rhododendron and pinkshell azalea. Unlike those earlier flowers, rosebay rhododendron is a more subtle bloom, only reaching a light pink tint or even remaining white in color. This mid-summer bloom usually comes to an end as August approaches and makes way for other unique flora on the mountain.

We’ve been busy making some exciting updates down by the water at Elk River Overlook! 🌲🌊 We just added a brand new picnic table and a charcoal grill right by the riverbank. It’s the perfect spot to fire up some dinner, listen to the water roll by, and relax after a long day of hiking or fishing. 🍔🎣

While we were up working on the property, we couldn't resist sneaking away for an evening at Carver's Gap. We caught an absolutely stunning sunset, and the wildflowers up there are putting on a spectacular show right now! 🌸🌄 If you're heading up this way soon, you definitely don't want to miss the blooms.
