Kenneth Wright passed away 1/3/21. He was a long time member of Friends of Faire. His charm and wit was loved by all. For the past several years he has traveled and worked with The Purple Dragon Shop at many events. He has also been a great volunteer at the Big Bear Renaissance Faire. We all loved him, he was a permanent part of our lives both in business and friendship. We will miss you Ken. Rest in Peace.

It has come to our attention that there have been rumors put out concerning the supposed sale of Big Bear Renaissance Faire. Nothing could be further from the truth. Also we did not "lose" our location. We made the decision to move our faire to a location that we felt was more advantageous to getting a better share of the tourist traffic as we are in a resort community, we felt that this change would also be good for our vendors and participants. Faire will be held in 2021.

It has become clear to us at the Big Bear Valley Renaissance Society that holding our annual event, The Big Bear Renaissance Faire would be unwise at this time. We held out for as long as possible in the hopes of opening in July or August but in the interest of the well being of our patrons and participants we cannot in good conscience hold our 2020 event. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families, please take care, follow the recommendations of the Doctors and Scientists that have your best interests at heart. We know it’s difficult for all of us to remain in seclusion but with a little patience we can all come out of this together healthy, with stories to tell as we celebrate the 2021 Big Bear Renaissance Faire!

To my friends and family in the faire community. We are living in troubling times, our events are being cancelled one after the other and we are upset, frustrated maybe even a little mad. Let us remember that we all celebrate a time in our history when music, art and science flourished, and people seemed to live life to it’s fullest. But going back in history we find these times were preceded by sickness, economic upheaval and death. Are we destined to repeat history? I think not. We have the power to lessen the toll taken by COVID 19 by listening to the Doctors and Scientists that are telling us to practice “social distancing”, by cleaning our hands often and by staying at home as much as possible. If we all stick together and follow these simple rules, we can come out this alive and healthy. I look forward to the day when we can once again get together and celebrate the Renaissance…..but our New Renaissance, our reemergence from these troubling times into a bright new future.
The decision on the future of our beloved faire will be made in mid May

By unanimous decision the BBVRS Board of Directors has decided that the 2019 Big Bear Renaissance Faire will be held the weekends of July 20-21, 27-28 & August 3-4, 10-11. We took into consideration other events and the start of the school year.

This is a resort community and at the end of summer there are plenty of people visiting the Big Bear area. It is up to all of us to make this event one that visitors must come to see year after year.

The Big Bear Valley Renaissance Society is a non-profit organization for education. Make your plans to join us in 2019 and "Help Us to Help Others"
