Site 3 - Spotted Trout

Spotted Trout is a beautiful and spacious riverfront site with an extended concrete patio. It is located right beside the campground pathway, with access stairs leading down to the river.

This site has a large green space behind it, making it a dog lover’s dream with plenty of room to set up outdoor fencing. You will also enjoy a beautiful rocked fire pit, picnic table, full hookups, and high-speed fiber WiFi.

Spotted Trout is situated at the front of the park across from the Trading Post. It overlooks the river on one side and our concert field on the other, allowing you to sit right on your own patio and enjoy live music during one of our concerts.

This site can accommodate any size rig and requires very little maneuvering to back in. It gets its name from being on a more shallow end of the river, where you can gaze down at the beautiful rocks and often spot trout swimming by.

Guests have access to our outdoor kitchen at the Big Brown Barn, or you can stroll over to the Trading Post in the morning and enjoy our elaborate coffee bar. On summer Friday nights, life gets even sweeter with our famous Margaritas served in the Brown Barn for our campers and cabin guests.

Spotted Trout is the perfect base camp for exploring the area. We are located 5 miles from Franklin, 12 miles from Highlands, 30 miles from Cherokee, 20 miles from Dillard, Georgia, and 60 miles from Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Come enjoy your stay on this historic property, once home to a Cherokee village and the Battle of Sugartown. Guests love looking for Indian artifacts, mining in the ruby-known river, fishing, tubing, or renting a kayak for the day.

Site 3, Spotted Trout, is truly a special place to relax, explore, and enjoy the beauty of Highlands Riverbend.

Site 15: Dancing Waters

Site 15, Dancing Waters, is a beautiful, peaceful site located near our Greenway Park space at the quiet end of Highlands Riverbend. Guests love this area for its wildlife sightings, nearby little gazebo, and the chance to spot our resident eagle perched above the Greenway.

This big rig friendly site offers full hookups, fiber WiFi, a concrete patio, fire ring, and picnic table. River access stairs are close by, and the Bark Park is just a short walk away. It is also a wonderful spot for fishing, tubing, and kayaking, with kayak rentals available right here at the park.

Dancing Waters gets its name from the large slanted boulder just beyond the campsite, where the river dances around the rock and creates the most peaceful, bustling water sounds.

This is one of our rotational campsites and can be booked for a maximum of 21 days, allowing more guests the opportunity to enjoy this special riverfront site.

Highlands Riverbend is the perfect base camp, located 5 miles from Franklin and 12 miles from Highlands, surrounded by waterfalls, hiking trails, and mountain adventure.

Eagle’s Perch earned its name from the breathtaking sightings of our resident eagle, often seen gliding over the river or perched high above the Greenway watching the water below.

Located near the end of the park, this site offers beautiful meadow views where guests frequently enjoy watching deer graze in the evenings and, on occasion, a black bear quietly pass through the distant tree line. It is also located beside one of our favorite fishing holes where Ellijay Creek flows into the Cullasaja River.
