A little background on the namesake of The Clyde...

Clyde Hildreth was my great grandfather, he was a mountaineer. A member of the Portland based, Mazamas 🏔 Clyde was also known as Pop Hildreth.... he was quite the guy, always one to educate and take people under his wing.

One line in his obituary reads...., “He was a staunch mountain climber, a leader who introduced many a neophyte to the lore of the mountains.”

Seen on the wall here at the cabin, is the Sixteen Major Northwest Peaks Award. Clyde is the 14th recipient, he received the award in 1940.

Awarded for successfully summiting Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, Glacier Peak, Mt. Olympus, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Stuart, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, 3-Fingered Jack, Mt. Washington, North Sister, Middle Sister, South Sister, and Mt. Shasta.

Thanks to Unanimous Choice for taking the old pressed tin plaque that resides in my grandmothers house, and creating this modern piece for the cabin!

We are honored to be able to use Clyde Hildreth as the namesake for this inviting and cozy mountain chalet, nestled right on Mt. Hood, where Clyde loved to be!
