🔥 VETERAN BOWFISHING NIGHT – ORTONVILLE, MN 🔥

Band of Brothers Outdoors is proud to once again bring back one of our most exciting events of the year—Veteran Bowfishing Night in Ortonville, Minnesota!

Last year was an absolute blast with boats loaded with fish and veterans making unforgettable memories on the water. We’re excited to do it all over again—bigger and better!

Whether you’ve never picked up a bow or you’re already experienced, this event is built to be fun, welcoming, and beginner-friendly. No experience required.

⏰ Time: 7:00 PM – 1:00 AM (possibly later)

📝 REGISTRATION INFO
🟢 Opens: April 5, 2026 at 1:00 PM
🔴 Closes: April 22, 2026 at 6:00 AM

⚠️ Important: Registering does NOT guarantee a spot. Space is limited and selected veterans will be contacted after registration closes.

• Meet up and introduction to bowfishing
• Great food and camaraderie with fellow veterans
• Hit the water for an action-packed night chasing rough fish
• Tons of shooting opportunities in a relaxed environment

If you’ve ever wanted to try nighttime bowfishing, this is your chance!

• Bows and gear will be provided
• Feel free to bring your own equipment if you have it

🏨 LODGING
• No lodging is provided
• Veterans are welcome to arrange their own accommodations in the Ortonville area

• Transportation to and from the event
• Valid fishing license
• Any snacks or drinks you’d like on the boat

Fishing Report: Today was a gorgeous day on the water! Maybe too nice! Sunny and calm with clear water in much of the lake made the daytime bite a bit of a challenge. However late in the day and in areas of dirty water, we had a few good reports fishing jig/minnow and white plastics in 2-7ft of water. For me, the big one got away, however it felt good to feel a few hits on the jig! Tomorrow will be another awesome day of weather, then back to the cold fronts for a few days. Water temps today started in the upper 30's and ended the day in the mid to upper 40's as Big Stone Lake is a shallow lake and warms up fast.

The bait shop will be open 7am-6pm tomorrow.

Lake level update: Big Stone Lake is currently about 6 inches below its normal summer lake level. The watershed staff plan to gradually raise the lake back to normal summer level by around May 1st, if we get enough runoff between now and then. Every year the lake is lowered about a foot in the fall to help with potential spring flooding and raised back up by a target date of May 1st.

The boat ramp docks are all in on the South Dakota side of Big Stone Lake.
