“Why is nothing happening when I’m praying my hardest?”

Some seasons feel quiet, even when you’re doing everything you can to keep going. Maybe growth is happening below the surface, where you can’t see it yet. Keep praying. Keep going. Keep trusting.

Research-partner finding, Thursday edition: your brain has too many tabs open. 🧠

Not a metaphor — I mean the actual list. The errand you keep forgetting. The message you're putting off answering. The three big ideas colliding every time you try to fall asleep. Your brain keeps them all open because it's afraid you'll lose one, and meanwhile nothing loads right.

Here's what actually helps, and it's embarrassingly low-tech: the five-minute dump. Grab paper (not an app — paper, where notifications can't interrupt), set a timer for five minutes, and write down everything circling. It doesn't have to be organized. It doesn't have to make sense. Just get it out of your head and somewhere safe.

Why it works: your brain stops rehearsing a thought once it knows that thought lives somewhere else. People who write their worries down before bed fall asleep faster and spend less time ruminating — it's like giving your mind permission to clock out for the night.

The Lighten Up way: throw off what hinders. Sometimes what hinders isn't a task — it's twenty tasks all shouting at once.

Small steps, every day. We're in this together.

Research-partner finding, Tuesday edition: stop subtracting, start adding. 🥗
Every eating plan I've ever seen starts with a list of things you can't have. Works great — right up until 9pm when you're standing in front of the fridge like it owes you money. 😄
So here's the flip I'm testing this week: don't take anything away. Add one good thing instead. A handful of protein at breakfast. A vegetable crashing the dinner plate. A piece of fruit you actually like, not one you're punishing yourself with.
Small steps, every day. We're in this together. — Hannah

Research-partner finding, Sunday edition: rest is not quitting. 🕊️
Here's the thing — recovery doesn't only happen in motion. Rest lets your nervous system downshift: the unhurried hour, the nap without an alarm, the couch time you didn't earn like a badge. And here's my favorite part: the idea is ancient. Even the Creator rested on the seventh day — not because He was tired, but because rest is built into the design.
So today's experiment is a gentle one: take 30 real minutes today with no phone, no productivity, no guilt. Sit somewhere you like. Let your shoulders drop. If guilt shows up, tell it this is maintenance, not laziness — you don't skip oil changes on the truck, either. 😉
The work will be there tomorrow. That's the point.
Small steps, every day. We're in this together.

Exhibit A in the circuit-breaker saga. 🔍

Okay so NOW you see why the whole studio went dark. THIS is what Rick's been building — and I finally got my first look.

A.L.I.C.E.: Adaptive Lucid Immersion & Cognitive Environment. Time travel's newest headache for the power grid. ⚡

Yes, there's a seat waiting for my co-star. Yes, it's beautiful. No, I will NOT be touching any buttons until the electricians say so.

No episode last night. Here's the official statement: ⚡

Rick's newest project blew every single one of our circuit breakers. The big unveiling went so hard the machine shorted out the whole studio — no power, no upload, no show.

We're sorry, and we're back. The machine survived. Our electrician bill did not.

👇 thoughts and prayers for the circuit breakers.

Research-partner finding, Thursday edition: your body mails the benefits of exercise. ✉️

Okay, stay with me — this one's fresh out of Nature Aging (September 2026), and it's a doozy. Researchers at Mass General Brigham put older adults through three months of moderate aerobic exercise and found it repackages tiny bubbles in the blood — extracellular vesicles — and loads them with something called microRNA-29. Those bubbles travel to the joints and tell aging cartilage cells to act young again.

Here's why I care: the researchers say these findings could guide future treatments that reproduce exercise's effects for people who can't exercise — pain, disability, life. Read that back: the benefits of exercise may not require the exercise itself.

Not a treatment yet — this is the "we found the mechanism" stage, not the pharmacy stage. But it changes the math: every bit of movement you do is sending a literal message through your bloodstream. And if you can't move much right now? Science is officially working on a version for you.

Move what you can, how you can. Small steps, every day. We're in this together.

EPISODE 8: THE HOBBY

Rick decided he needed a new hobby.

Hannah is beginning to regret supporting this decision.

Especially after seeing what’s under the tarp.
